The best Springfield Armory rifles cover more ground than most shooters realize. Springfield is famous for the M1A and the Hellcat, but its long gun lineup now runs from the SAINT family of AR-15s and AR-10s to the Hellion bullpup, a retro SA-16A2 and the Model 2020 bolt action rifles built for hunters, from the Waypoint to the Redline scout.
That makes shopping harder than it looks. A SAINT Victor, a Model 2020 Boundary and an M1A share a roll mark and not much else. Current MSRP runs from $434 for a 2020 Rimfire to $2,355 for a Heatseeker or an adjustable carbon Waypoint in 2026, and each rifle was built for a different job.
Our writers at GunsAmerica Digest have tested nearly the whole lineup. One shot nine groups with a Waypoint in 7 PRC that averaged just under an inch. Another ran a 14 inch SAINT Victor for several hundred rounds without a single jam. Another took a 6.5 Creedmoor M1A to 1,000 meters and shot under 7 inches on steel. If you are shopping handguns instead, see our best Springfield Armory pistols.
Start with the buyer’s guide, then jump to the picks. Springfield’s Model 2020 bolt guns carry a 0.75 MOA guarantee for three shot groups with match grade ammo, and we tell you which rifles met it. Prices are current manufacturer MSRP checked in October 2026, with the price at the time of review noted where it helps, and discontinued models show their last known price and sit at the end of the list as picks worth finding used.

Buyer’s Guide: How To Choose The Best Springfield Armory Rifles In 2026
Pick the platform first. Springfield builds bolt actions, ARs, a bullpup and a battle rifle, and each has strengths.
Model 2020 Bolt Action Or SAINT AR
The Model 2020 rifles, Waypoint, Boundary, Redline and Heatseeker, are hunting and precision bolt guns with TriggerTech triggers and carbon options. The SAINT line is Springfield’s AR family: the Victor in 5.56 and .308, the precision Edge ATC and the compact 9mm PDW. If you want one rifle for deer and elk, start with the bolt guns. If you want a defensive or general purpose rifle, start with the SAINT. For other brands, see our best bolt action hunting rifles and best AR-15 rifles.
Carbon Or Stainless Barrel
Several Model 2020 rifles come with a carbon fiber wrapped barrel or a fluted stainless one. Our Boundary reviewer said the carbon barrel costs more with minimal weight savings, and our Waypoint reviewer noted the stainless, non adjustable version cost about $500 less in 2024 and weighed only seven ounces more.
The Accuracy Guarantees
Springfield backs the Model 2020 family with a 0.75 MOA guarantee for three shot groups at 100 yards with quality match ammo, and the 2020 Rimfire with a 1 inch guarantee at 50 yards. Our Redline, Waypoint, Boundary and Heatseeker testers all met it with at least one load. The SAINT Edge ATC carries a sub-MOA guarantee with match ammo, and our 2022 tester averaged 0.8 to 1.25 MOA depending on the load. The SAINT Victors are general purpose rifles, and our testers got about 1.5 to 1.9 MOA typical groups.
Brakes, Threads And Suppressors
Most Model 2020 rifles ship threaded with a brake. Our Boundary reviewer found the radial brake loud and not very effective. The 14 inch SAINT Victor has a pinned and welded flash hider to reach legal length, which means no practical way to mount a suppressor. If you shoot suppressed, check the muzzle before you buy.
A Note On Braced Pistols
One pick here, the SAINT Victor 9mm PDW, is a pistol sold with a stabilizing brace, not a rifle. Federal rules on pistol braces have changed several times in recent years through ATF rulemaking and court challenges, and state and local laws vary. Check current federal, state and local law before you buy, carry or modify any braced pistol, and do not assume a short barreled gun is legal where you live.

Springfield Armory Model 2020 Waypoint: Best Springfield Armory Rifle Overall (2026)
The Springfield Armory Model 2020 Waypoint is the best Springfield Armory rifle overall because it gives hunters a carbon fiber barrel, an adjustable carbon stock, a TriggerTech trigger and the 0.75 MOA guarantee in calibers up to 7 PRC. Our reviewer broke in a 7 PRC Waypoint and shot nine groups that averaged just under one inch, with the best right at half an inch.

He had two complaints. The magazine was incredibly loose in the magwell, and the $2,670 MSRP at the time of review (2024) gave him pause. The same rifle with a fixed stock and fluted stainless barrel was about $500 cheaper at $2,173 MSRP then. In 2026 Springfield lists the Waypoint at $1,995 MSRP, $2,295 with a carbon barrel and $2,355 with the adjustable stock and carbon barrel. In an earlier field test of a 6.5 Creedmoor Waypoint, another writer shot a 0.55 inch group with Hornady Precision Hunter and said it shot everything sub-MOA.
Key Specs
- Caliber: 7mm PRC (as tested); 6.5 Creedmoor and others offered
- Barrel: carbon fiber (tested) or fluted stainless
- Stock: adjustable carbon fiber
- Trigger: TriggerTech
- Guarantee: 0.75 MOA, three shots, match ammo

- Adjustable stock
- Long action calibers available

Springfield Armory Model 2020 Boundary: Best Springfield For Elk And Long Range Hunting (2026)
The Springfield Armory Model 2020 Boundary is the best Springfield for elk and long range hunting because its AG Composites carbon fiber stock, smooth Model 2020 action and TriggerTech trigger delivered consistent sub-MOA groups in 7 PRC. Our reviewer’s best three shot group with Hornady 175 grain ELD-X came in at less than half MOA.
Read our full Springfield Model 2020 Boundary review here.
The 13.5 inch length of pull and Pachmayr Decelerator pad made the magnum comfortable, and the rifle is ready for a suppressor. It did not like Hornady 180 grain ELD Match, which averaged over 1 MOA suppressed and unsuppressed. His complaints were a radial muzzle brake that is loud, kicks up debris and did little for recoil, and a carbon barrel option that costs more for minimal weight savings. MSRP is $2,295 with the carbon barrel and $1,995 with stainless in 2026, down from $2,599 and $2,173 at the time of review (2024).
Key Specs
- Caliber: 7 PRC (as tested)
- Stock: AG Composites carbon fiber, 13.5 in LOP, Pachmayr Decelerator pad
- Trigger: TriggerTech

- Price: $2,295 carbon, $1,995 stainless MSRP (2026)
Pros
- Best group under half MOA
- Excellent carbon stock
- Easy trigger adjustment
- Suppressor ready
Cons
- Loud radial brake
- Did not like 180 gr ELD Match
- Carbon barrel adds cost

Springfield Armory Model 2020 Redline: Best Springfield Scout Rifle (2026)
The Springfield Armory Model 2020 Redline is the best Springfield scout rifle because it puts a 16 or 20 inch carbon fiber barrel, a threaded muzzle and a 28 ounce adjustable stock into a rifle as short as 36.5 inches. Our reviewer tested the 16 inch .308 and said it easily met the three shot 0.75 MOA guarantee with Hornady and Remington hunting ammo.
Read our full Springfield Model 2020 Redline review here.
He shot it out to 465 yards and said it could go farther, but his scope only had 14 MOA of turret travel. He called it light, rugged, comfortable and fun, and said the $2,299 MSRP at the time of review (2023) was a fair price; it lists at $1,795 MSRP in 2026. Length of pull adjusts from 13.25 to 14.25 inches, up to 16 with spacers. Read our Redline video review too, and see our best scout rifles for other options.

Springfield Armory Model 2020 Heatseeker: Best Springfield Chassis Rifle For Predators (2026)
The Springfield Armory Model 2020 Heatseeker is the best Springfield chassis rifle for predators because it pairs a 16 inch carbon fiber wrapped barrel with a Sharps Bros chassis, a B5 Systems Collapsible Precision Stock and AICS magazines at 7 pounds 7 ounces. Our reviewer tested it in .308.
Read our full Springfield Model 2020 Heatseeker review here.
It met the 0.75 MOA guarantee with Federal Gold Medal Match 168 grain, averaging 0.76 MOA, but not with every load he tried. Springfield told him it had proof tested that exact rifle with the same ammo before shipping. He liked the adjustability and AR grip compatibility but wished the stock folded. MSRP is $2,355 in 2026, unchanged from the time of review (2025), which he said puts it among serious competition.
Key Specs
- Caliber: .308 Win (as tested) or 6.5 Creedmoor
- Barrel: 16 in BSF carbon fiber wrapped, 1:10
- Chassis: Sharps Bros Heatseeker, B5 CPS stock

Springfield Armory Model 2020 Rimfire: Best Springfield .22 Rifle (2026)
The Springfield Armory Model 2020 Rimfire is the best Springfield .22 rifle because it brings a terrific trigger, a free floated barrel and a 1 inch at 50 yards accuracy guarantee to a rifle that still starts at $434 MSRP in 2026. Our reviewer said it did not disappoint and called it a gun you could shoot for a lifetime and pass on to a young shooter.
Read our full Springfield Model 2020 Rimfire review here.
It uses flush fitting Ruger 10/22 style rotary magazines, includes a Picatinny rail and has a 13.45 inch length of pull. The black synthetic started at $434, the Sage at $499, and walnut grades ran from $640 to $1,099 MSRP in 2024; in 2026 the line runs $434 to $839 MSRP. His one gripe was that the classic model’s barrel is not threaded for a suppressor. See our best .22LR rifles for other choices.
Key Specs
- Caliber: .22 LR
- Magazine: 10/22 style rotary, flush fit
- LOP: 13.45 in
- Guarantee: 1 in, three shots at 50 yd, match ammo

Springfield Armory SAINT Victor 5.56: Best Springfield AR-15 (2026)
The Springfield Armory SAINT Victor 5.56 is the best Springfield AR-15 because the updated Victor adds B5 Systems furniture, a free float handguard with QD cups and the Accu-Tite tension system that removes upper to lower wobble. Our reviewer ran a 14 inch pinned and welded Victor for several hundred rounds without a single jam or failure to feed, mostly on brass case 55 grain PMC and Winchester.
Read our full Springfield SAINT Victor 14 inch review here.
He praised the flat recoil, excellent flash suppression and a handguard that stayed cooler than expected. Accuracy was general purpose grade, not precision: his five shot groups with Hornady loads ran 0.92 to 3.16 MOA, most around 1.9 MOA. The pinned and welded muzzle device on the 14 inch model means no practical way to run a suppressor. MSRP is $1,249 to $1,279 for the AR-15 Victors in 2026, the same as at the time of review (2025).
Key Specs
- Caliber: 5.56 NATO, 1:8 twist

- No upper to lower wobble

- Most groups about 1.9 MOA
- 14 in model cannot practically take a suppressor

Springfield Armory SAINT Victor .308: Best Springfield AR-10 (2026)
The Springfield Armory SAINT Victor .308 is the best Springfield AR-10 because it brings a 16 inch CMV barrel, flip up sights, a nickel boron trigger and a pinned gas block to the .308 AR at an MSRP of $1,399 at the time of review (2019). Our reviewer expected to see it in stores around $1,100 then and called it the rifle your battle buddy needs.
Read our full Springfield SAINT Victor 308 review here.
He tested it with a Leupold Mark 5HD 5-25×56 and it averaged under 1.5 MOA with a variety of ammo brands and bullet weights. He noted the pinned gas block basically guarantees it will not move. Springfield Armory Hellion: Best Springfield Bullpup (2026)
The Springfield Armory Hellion is the best Springfield bullpup because it packs a 20 inch barrel into a 32.25 to 33.75 inch rifle with fully ambidextrous controls and a two position adjustable short stroke piston. Our reviewer and his buddies put hundreds of rounds through the 20 inch model with zero failures or malfunctions.
Read our full Springfield 20 inch Hellion review here.
He would not call it a sub-MOA rifle, but he thinks it is capable of close to 1 MOA with a better trigger. The optic sits about 1.5 inches higher over the bore than on an AR-15, so learn your holdovers up close. It weighs 8 pounds 6 ounces with a BCM Gunfighter grip and a Magpul PMAG. Hellion MSRP runs $2,040 to $2,078 in 2026, against $2,031 for the 20 inch model at the time of review (2023). We also covered the original 16 inch Hellion at launch. For more, see our best bullpups.

Springfield Armory SA-16A2: Best Retro Springfield Rifle (2026)
The Springfield Armory SA-16A2 is the best retro Springfield rifle because it recreates the M16A2 era service rifle with a rifle length gas system that our reviewer said makes recoil noticeably mild. He called it an old school ball rifle that belongs on any AR fan’s bucket list.
Read our full Springfield SA-16A2 review here.
His best five shot group at 100 yards was 1.36 inches with inexpensive Hornady Steel Match 55 grain, averaging 1.66 inches. Winchester White Box ran a 1.53 inch best and 1.95 inch average, and Nosler 77 grain averaged 2.22 inches. The trigger broke at a consistent 6 pounds, which made him work for groups, and the long overall length and limited DIY customization are part of the retro deal. Springfield lists it at $1,249 MSRP in 2026.
Key Specs
- Caliber: 5.56 NATO
- Gas system: rifle length
- Trigger: 6 lb as tested
- Best group: 1.36 in, five shots at 100 yd

Springfield Armory SAINT Victor 9mm PDW: Best Compact Springfield 9mm (Braced Pistol) (2026)
The Springfield Armory SAINT Victor 9mm PDW is the best compact Springfield 9mm because it stuffs AR controls, suppressor ready utility and Colt pattern magazines into a 5.5 inch barreled package. Legally, it is a pistol sold with an SB Tactical HBPDW stabilizing brace, not a rifle; read the brace note in the buyer’s guide before you buy.
Read our full SAINT Victor 9mm PDW review here.
Our reviewer said recoil was soft, it ran well suppressed and the Colt pattern 32 round metal magazines, about $32 each in 2026, were reliable. At 50 yards his five shot groups ran 2.4 to 7.5 MOA, with three loads under 3 MOA, or under 1.5 inches. His complaints were a mushy trigger wall, a tight handguard, a brace that could adjust faster and a muzzle drum that is hard to remove without wrench flats. MSRP is $1,399 (2026). For 9mm carbines, see our best 9mm carbines.
Key Specs

Springfield Armory SAINT Edge ATC Elite: Best Used Springfield Precision AR (2026)
The Springfield Armory SAINT Edge ATC Elite is the best used Springfield precision AR because its monolithic Accurized Tactical Chassis, 18 inch Ballistic Advantage barrel in .223 Wylde and sub-MOA guarantee with match ammo make it a ready made varmint and target rifle. From a bipod, our reviewer’s groups averaged 0.8 to 1.25 MOA depending on the factory load, and it preferred Federal Gold Medal Match.
Read our full Springfield SAINT Edge ATC Elite review here.
There is a trigger story. Springfield first sent him the base Edge ATC, he had a trigger issue, and Springfield sent the upgraded Elite instead. Our 2020 review of the base Edge ATC found its match trigger broke north of 6 pounds, which that writer called frustrating on a $1,549 MSRP rifle in 2020. The Elite was $1,899 MSRP at the time of review (2022) and adds a better stock, but Springfield now lists it as discontinued, so shop used.
Key Specs
- Caliber: .223 Wylde
- Barrel: 18 in Ballistic Advantage, 1:7
- Gas: direct impingement, mid length
- Receivers: forged 7075 upper, machined 6061 lower, monolithic chassis

- Price: Discontinued; last known $1,899 MSRP (2022)
Pros
- 0.8 to 1.25 MOA from a bipod

Cons

- Missed sub-MOA with some loads
- Older 2022 review

The Springfield Armory M1A in 6.5 Creedmoor is the best used Springfield M1A for long range because it takes the classic M14 pattern and adds a 22 inch National Match grade stainless barrel in a cartridge that our reviewer said flies better, bucks wind better and recoils less than .308. MSRP was $2,045 at the time of review (2017). Springfield now lists the 6.5 Creedmoor Loaded Precision as discontinued; the current M1A Loaded in .308 runs $1,978 to $2,149 MSRP (2026).

With a factory scope mount, his best paper group was right at three quarters of an inch at 100 meters after about 10 rounds to settle the barrel, and his 1,000 meter group on steel was under 7 inches. It is heavy at 11.4 pounds, and it is an older review, so check current M1A offerings. For other big semi-autos, see our best battle rifles.
