Springfield Armory is expanding its Kuna lineup with a new suppressor-ready model built around a classic tri-lug muzzle.
The new Kuna Tri-Lug 9mm keeps the compact dimensions, roller-delayed operating system and ambidextrous controls of the original Kuna. The big change sits at the end of its 6.6-inch barrel.
Instead of relying on an added muzzle device, Springfield machines three mounting lugs directly into the barrel. Shooters can attach a compatible suppressor using a simple push-and-twist motion. Removing it works just as quickly and requires no tools.

A Classic Mount on a Modern PDW
Tri-lug systems have been around for decades, and their appeal is pretty straightforward. They allow a compatible suppressor to lock into place quickly and securely without threading it onto the barrel.
Springfield says the integrated setup makes it easy to move between suppressed and unsuppressed configurations.
The rest of the package should feel familiar to anyone who has handled the standard Kuna. Its monolithic aluminum upper houses a roller-delayed operating system designed to reduce felt recoil. The compact platform also features fully ambidextrous controls and ships with two magazines.

Standard models include two 30-round magazines. Springfield also offers “low-capacity” versions with 10-round magazines for customers living in restricted states.
“The new Kuna Tri-Lug takes this modern and popular design and adds a proven muzzle interface mount, offering shooters the best of both the modern and the classic,” said Steve Kramer, Springfield Armory’s vice president of marketing.
Braced and Unbraced Options
Springfield offers the Kuna Tri-Lug in two main configurations.
The base model has a section of Picatinny rail at the rear of the receiver. This allows the owner to choose a compatible rear-mounted accessory. Its suggested retail price is $1,179.
The second version arrives with a side-folding Strike Industries FSA brace already installed. That model carries an MSRP of $1,330.
Both configurations are also available through Springfield Armory’s FIRSTLINE program. The program provides discounts to qualifying professionals.
The complete lineup includes:
- Kuna Tri-Lug 9mm: KN9069BTL, MSRP $1,179
- Kuna Tri-Lug 9mm with FSA brace: KN9069BTL-FSA, MSRP $1,330
- Kuna Tri-Lug 9mm “Lo-Cap”: KN9069BTLLC, MSRP $1,179
- Kuna Tri-Lug 9mm with FSA brace “Lo-Cap”: KN9069BTLLC-FSA, MSRP $1,330
The Kuna was already designed as a compact, high-capacity personal-defense platform. This new version does not reinvent it. Instead, Springfield added a simple and proven feature that should appeal directly to suppressor users.
