The SIG KILO MICRO 4x18mm squeezes 1,000-yard reflective ranging, Archery Mode, ballistic groups and a rechargeable battery into a rangefinder weighing just 3.4 ounces. At SIG NEXT, this tiny optic proved it has considerably more capability than its dimensions suggest.
SIG Sauer has taken the technology from its larger KILO laser rangefinders and shrunk it into the new KILO MICRO 4x18mm. SIG calls it the world’s smallest laser rangefinder, and at just 2.7 inches long and 3.4 ounces, it is genuinely tiny. Despite the size, it ranges deer to 600 yards, trees to 800 yards and reflective targets to 1,000 yards, while adding dedicated archery functions, ballistic groups and a rechargeable battery.

SIG KILO MICRO Weighs Just 3.4 Ounces
The first thing that stands out about the SIG KILO MICRO is its size.
It measures only 2.7 inches long, 1.9 inches high and 1.2 inches wide. Weight is 3.4 ounces.
That makes it substantially easier to carry than a conventional hunting rangefinder. For bowhunters, it can stay attached to a chest rig, bino harness or pack strap without adding meaningful bulk. It also makes sense as a backup rangefinder that can simply live in a truck, hunting pack or range bag.
Magnification is 4x through an 18mm objective with a 9.6-degree field of view and adjustable diopter.
1,000-Yard SIG KILO MICRO Range in a Tiny Package
Small size did not result in extremely short ranging capability.
SIG rates the KILO MICRO for:
- Deer to 600 yards
- Trees to 800 yards
- Reflective targets to 1,000 yards
At SIG NEXT, we had no problem ranging targets at 666 yards. There was not a convenient 1,000-yard target available from our position, so I was not able to independently verify SIG’s full reflective range.
For an optic primarily designed around archery and close-to-medium-range hunting, however, 600 yards on deer is already far beyond the distance most bowhunters need.
The KILO MICRO uses SIG’s GEN II Lightwave DSP processing, which is designed to provide fast ranging along with very short minimum-range resolution.
Archery Mode Gives Bowhunters More Than Straight-Line Range
SIG specifically built an Archery Mode into the KILO MICRO.
The rangefinder also incorporates angle compensation for uphill and downhill shots, which becomes especially important for bowhunting from steep terrain or elevated tree stands.
For firearm use, SIG includes eight onboard ballistic groups. This is not intended to replace something like a full KILO8K-ABS with sophisticated Applied Ballistics solutions, but it gives the MICRO considerably more capability than a basic line-of-sight rangefinder.
That combination is what makes this little optic interesting. It is primarily aimed at archery hunters, but it is not limited to archery.
Red and Green Adaptive Display Tackles Changing Light
The KILO MICRO uses a red and green Lumatic adaptive TOLED display.
Instead of forcing the shooter to use one display color and brightness level in every condition, the system adjusts visibility as ambient lighting changes. That helps keep the display visible in bright daylight without becoming overwhelmingly bright around dawn or dusk.
SIG also uses SpectraCoat anti-reflection coatings and LensArmor abrasion-resistant lens coatings to improve light transmission and protect the exterior optical surfaces.
The reticle itself is a simple circle.
Rechargeable Battery Delivers Up to 3,000 Ranges
Instead of using a replaceable CR2 or CR123 battery, SIG built a rechargeable lithium-polymer battery into the KILO MICRO.
SIG rates it for as many as 3,000 ranges on a full charge.
For a rangefinder this small, eliminating the conventional removable battery compartment also helps keep the overall dimensions down.
Whether hunters prefer rechargeable or disposable batteries will come down to personal preference, but 3,000 ranges is enough that most users should be able to get through a substantial amount of field use between charges.
The Magnetic QDI Harness Mount Solves a Real Field Problem
One of the smartest features may have nothing to do with electronics.
SIG includes a QDI, or Quick Detach Interface, magnetic harness mount.
The mount allows the KILO MICRO to stay secured to a pack strap, MOLLE-compatible gear or hunting harness while still being immediately accessible. Pull it free, range the target and snap it back onto the magnetic interface.
For bowhunting in particular, that makes considerably more sense than digging a rangefinder out of a pocket while an animal is moving.
Given how small and light this thing is, I am waiting for someone to come up with an even more creative mounting system that puts it almost directly within reach of the shooter’s face.

SIG KILO MICRO Pros & Cons: Tiny Size With Real Capability
- Pros: Extremely compact 3.4-ounce design, deer ranging to 600 yards, reflective ranging to 1,000 yards, dedicated Archery Mode, angle compensation, eight onboard ballistic groups, adaptive red and green display, rechargeable battery and QDI magnetic harness mount.
- Cons: The full 1,000-yard reflective range was not independently verified at SIG NEXT, and hunters who prefer field-replaceable batteries may favor a conventional removable-battery design.
SIG KILO MICRO Verdict: Small Rangefinder, Serious Capability
The KILO MICRO is not trying to replace SIG’s KILO5K or KILO8K for long-range rifle shooting.
It is a different tool.
At 3.4 ounces, it is small enough that there is very little reason not to carry it. Yet it still incorporates GEN II Lightwave DSP, angle compensation, eight firearm ballistic groups, Archery Mode, an adaptive red/green display and ranging capability out to 1,000 yards on reflective targets.
At a listed price of $249.99, that is a lot of ranging capability in an unusually small package.
For bowhunters, ultralight hunters or anyone who wants a tiny backup rangefinder that can permanently live in a pack or truck, the KILO MICRO makes a lot of sense.
