SIG Sauer has added a serious recoil-management upgrade to the P365 lineup with the new P365-MACH3D. Built around a 3.4-inch bull barrel and SIG’s new MACH3D compensator, the pistol combines the familiar P365 fire-control system with an XMACRO grip, 17-round magazines and a compensator SIG says can reduce muzzle rise by up to 30 percent. After shooting it at SIG NEXT, the difference was immediately noticeable.

SIG P365-MACH3D Compensator Targets 30% Less Muzzle Rise
The defining feature of the SIG P365-MACH3D is its new MACH3D compensator.
Instead of using a conventional machined compensator with simple ports, SIG says the MACH3D unit is produced through additive manufacturing. That gives engineers more freedom to control internal geometry and direct propellant gas in ways that are difficult to accomplish with traditional machining.
SIG says the result is a more efficient gas path that produces a more neutral return to zero and reduces muzzle rise by up to 30 percent.
In practical terms, the P365-MACH3D compensator is designed to address the two things shooters notice most on a small 9mm pistol: rearward recoil and muzzle movement.
During our range session at SIG NEXT, the effect was substantial. The P365 is already an easy micro-compact to shoot well, but the MACH3D configuration noticeably reduced how much the muzzle moved during rapid fire.
Why the P365-MACH3D Gets a 3.4-Inch Bull Barrel
SIG pairs the compensator with a 3.4-inch carbon-steel bull barrel.
The additional barrel mass and stiffness also contribute to the overall shooting characteristics of the pistol. Rather than simply attaching a compensator to a standard P365 barrel, SIG designed the MACH3D configuration around the bull barrel and compensator as a system.
The complete pistol measures 7.2 inches overall and weighs 23 ounces with a magazine. Width is 1.4 inches and height is 5.25 inches.
That puts the MACH3D well beyond the dimensions of the original P365, but it still maintains the relatively narrow profile that made the P365 platform popular as a concealed-carry pistol.

The P365-MACH3D uses SIG’s XMACRO polymer grip module.
That gives the pistol a longer firing grip, interchangeable backstraps and a standard M1913 accessory rail. SIG also includes a detachable magazine funnel.
Capacity is 17 rounds, and the pistol ships with two 17-round steel magazines with high-visibility followers.
The longer XMACRO grip also gives the shooter more leverage than the original short P365 grip, which becomes especially useful when combined with the reduced muzzle rise from the compensator.
SIG-LOC COMPACT Optic Cut Keeps the MACH3D Ready for a Dot
The Nitron-coated stainless-steel slide is cut for SIG’s SIG-LOC COMPACT optic system and uses aggressive front and rear serrations.
Standard models ship with XRAY3 day/night sights. SIG also lists an optic-equipped version with a ROMEO-X SIG-LOC COMPACT Circle Dot installed from the factory.
The pistol uses a flat skeletonized striker-fired trigger along with an extended slide release.
SIG does not currently offer the P365-MACH3D with a manual safety.
Shooting the SIG P365-MACH3D: The Difference Is Obvious
The P365 has been one of SIG’s most successful handgun platforms because it put substantially more capacity into a thin concealed-carry package without making the pistol difficult to shoot.
The MACH3D takes the platform in the opposite direction from simply making it smaller. SIG is using the extra length and compensator to make the P365 easier to control at speed.
That is what stood out most during our time with it.
You can see the muzzle stay noticeably flatter in the video, but this is one of those systems that is easier to appreciate when you actually shoot it. The reduction in movement through the hand and the reduction in muzzle flip were both obvious.
This was a SIG-hosted event with SIG-provided guns and ammunition, so this was not an independent reliability test. What we can say is that the MACH3D system made a clear difference in recoil control during our initial range time.
For shooters who already like the P365 platform but want a flatter-shooting version without moving to a heavier metal-frame gun, the P365-MACH3D is probably the most performance-focused polymer P365 SIG has produced yet.

SIG P365-MACH3D Pros & Cons: What Stood Out
- Pros: Noticeably reduced muzzle movement during rapid fire, up to 30 percent muzzle-rise reduction claimed by SIG, 17-round capacity, XMACRO grip, 3.4-inch bull barrel, SIG-LOC COMPACT optic cut and two included 17-round steel magazines.
- Cons: Larger than the original P365, no manual-safety version currently offered, and our SIG NEXT range session was not an independent reliability test.
Is the SIG P365-MACH3D the Performance P365?
The P365-MACH3D does not chase the smallest possible dimensions. Instead, SIG uses the XMACRO grip, 3.4-inch bull barrel and MACH3D compensator to push the P365 platform toward faster, flatter shooting while retaining the relatively narrow profile associated with the family.
Our initial range time was limited to a SIG-hosted event, so longer-term reliability testing remains a separate question. Within that context, however, the reduction in muzzle movement was easy to see and even easier to feel. For shooters already invested in the P365 platform, the MACH3D offers a distinctly performance-focused take on the familiar polymer pistol.
