Oregon State Police SWAT earned the top spot at the 2026 Staccato National SWAT Championship, leaving Nevada with bragging rights and $50,000.
The competition, presented by Trijicon, ran Sept. 25 through 27 at Staccato Ranch Vegas in Pahrump, Nevada. Washoe County Sheriff’s Office finished second, while Lubbock Police Department claimed third.
According to Staccato, 38 teams entered the competition. They represented more than a dozen states, Canada and Puerto Rico. The field included municipal departments, sheriff’s offices and federal tactical units.

Three Days of Hard Competition
This was not a relaxed weekend at the range.
Each five-person team included four primary competitors and one alternate. Teams faced eight preliminary stages, five individual side stages and a four-stage championship finale.
The courses tested shooting proficiency, physical conditioning, decision-making and teamwork under pressure. Competitors also carried their duty equipment throughout the event.
Officers used several Staccato 2011 pistols, including the P4, P4.5, XC and P.
The entire prize pool totaled $150,000. Oregon State Police SWAT received $50,000 to support its equipment and training needs.
“To come out on top against several of the best SWAT teams in the country is a testament to every member of our unit,” OSP SWAT Team Leader Dan Bell said.
Bell also credited his team’s families. Members spent considerable personal time training and preparing for the competition.
More Than a Trophy
Events like this give tactical teams an opportunity to test their skills against other experienced units. They also expose weak points that might not appear during routine training.
Staccato hosted the event at its 550-acre Nevada training facility. The property includes configurable scenario zones designed to test leadership, communication and tactical execution.
Staccato CEO Buck Pierson praised every team that competed. He described the event as a reminder of the skill and commitment found throughout the law enforcement community.

The company also deserves some credit for putting meaningful money behind the event. That $50,000 first-place award can go directly toward better equipment and additional training.
Oregon State Police SWAT now holds the 2026 championship title. More importantly, the team earned it against a deep field of experienced tactical officers.
