Springfield Armory has expanded its Echelon family with three new performance-focused 9mm pistols.
The new Echelon Pro Comp lineup includes compact, hybrid and full-size configurations. Each model combines the Echelon’s modular design with an integral compensator, upgraded grip texture and Springfield Grey Cerakote finish.
All three pistols carry an MSRP of $899.
Three Sizes, One Pro Package
The Echelon Pro Comp will be offered in three configurations:
- Echelon Pro 4.0C Comp: Compact frame, three extended 18-round magazines
- Echelon Pro 4.0FC Comp: Compact slide and 4-inch barrel paired with a full-size grip, three extended 20-round magazines
- Echelon Pro 4.5F Comp: Full-size configuration with three extended 20-round magazines
The 4.0FC should be especially interesting for shooters who want a shorter slide without giving up a full-size grip and magazine capacity.
All three models use an integrally compensated slide assembly. The design redirects gas upward to help control muzzle rise and keep the pistol flatter during rapid strings.
New LightForged Grip Texture
One of the biggest changes is Springfield’s new LightForged grip treatment.
Springfield uses precision lasers to sculpt and reform the grip module’s surface. The process produces a texture similar to custom stippling, but with repeatable geometry and placement.
The Echelon Pro introduces Springfield’s aggressive Badlands pattern. Its cracked-earth appearance provides more traction while giving the pistol a distinctive look.

Each model also includes a machined steel flared magwell. The magwell is removable, allowing shooters to use flush-fitting magazines when they want a slimmer profile.
Other standard upgrades include a stainless steel guide rod and a tritium front sight surrounded by an orange luminescent ring.
Echelon Modularity Remains
Springfield retained the features that helped distinguish the original Echelon.
The serialized Central Operating Group can be removed and installed in compatible grip modules. This gives owners the ability to change frame sizes and colors without purchasing another serialized firearm.
The Variable Interface System also returns. It allows many popular pistol optics to mount directly to the slide without relying on a conventional adapter plate.
Combined with fully ambidextrous controls, the system remains suitable for both right-handed and left-handed shooters.
“At its launch, the Echelon quickly established itself as a premier 9mm duty pistol with cutting-edge performance and a highly modular design,” said Steve Kramer, Springfield Armory’s vice president of marketing. “The new Echelon Pro takes that solid foundation and adds a wide range of performance-oriented enhancements.”
The Echelon Pro Comp lineup gives shooters three size options without changing the price. Whether the priority is concealment, duty use or range performance, Springfield now has a Pro Comp configuration aimed at the job.
