At SHOT Show 2025, CANiK’s booth drew a crowd as they debuted the newest member of their METE family: the METE MC9 Prime.
This latest release builds on the foundation of their micro-compact MC9 while introducing a host of upgrades designed to make it a standout in its category.

Table of contents
Evolving the METE Line

The METE MC9 Prime expands on CANiK’s earlier MC9 models. Originally launched as a micro-compact with 12- and 15-round capacities, the MC9 has since grown with variants like the MC9 NL, which introduced a higher grip surface and 17-round capacity, and the MC9 LS, which added a longer barrel.
The MC9 Prime takes it further by incorporating features from these earlier models while adding new elements like a four-port compensator. This compensator, built directly into the 3.6-inch barrel, is designed to reduce muzzle flip for better control during rapid firing.
Slide cuts matching the ports not only enhance functionality but also lend the pistol a sleek, aggressive look.
Enhanced Features and Ergonomics
The METE MC9 Prime stippling on the grip offers a secure hold. It utilizes a more mildly aggressive texture all the way around.
Also, the flat-faced, diamond-cut trigger is a solid addition, ensuring a crisp pull. CANiK’s triggers have always impressed me, and this one reinforces that impression.
Other features include ambidextrous slide releases, a tritium front sight for better low-light performance, and an optics-ready slide with compatibility for the Shield RMS footprint.
For those seeking a complete setup, CANiK offers a version equipped with their new enclosed MO4 red dot optic.
Practical Package for Everyday Use
The METE MC9 Prime comes ready to carry out of the box. Alongside the pistol, buyers receive a G-Code holster, cleaning kit, and tools.
The pistol’s compatibility with existing CANiK accessories further enhances its versatility. Each model ships with two 17-round magazines.

The non-optic model has an MSRP of $649, while the optic-included package costs $849. Both versions provide excellent value, combining advanced features with practical inclusions.
Coming Soon
The METE MC9 Prime is set to hit shelves in late March 2025.
Whether you’re drawn to its recoil-mitigating compensator, optics-ready design, or ergonomic enhancements, this pistol checks the boxes I look for in an EDC pistol.
