Cabot Goes All-Steel With the Midnight Rebellion MAX

Cabot Guns has taken its carry-focused Rebellion MAX in a heavier, darker direction.

New for 2027, the Midnight Rebellion MAX replaces the original model’s aluminum frame and grip with components machined from stainless steel. That change adds weight, but Cabot says it also produces a softer recoil impulse, less muzzle rise and a more controlled shooting experience.

The limited-production double-stack 1911 carries a base price of $6,995.

From Lightweight to All Steel

The original Rebellion MAX focused on combining double-stack capacity with a lightweight carry package. The Midnight version keeps the same basic concept but trades some portability for added stability.

Its unloaded weight comes in at 34 ounces. That is still manageable for a Commander-length pistol, but this model clearly prioritizes how the gun handles under recoil over winning a contest on the scale.

Cabot machines the frame and thin double-stack grip from American-made billet stainless steel. The grip accepts STI/2011-pattern magazines while maintaining a relatively narrow profile.

Cabot finishes the entire pistol in its proprietary Vintage Classic treatment. The process creates the deep, dark appearance responsible for the “Midnight” name. According to Cabot, the heat and chemical treatment also hardens the surface and improves resistance to wear, chemicals and environmental exposure.

Engineered Around the 9mm Cartridge

The Midnight Rebellion MAX uses a hand-fit, 4.25-inch stainless steel bull barrel with Cabot’s single-upper-lug design.

Traditional 1911 barrels commonly use two upper locking lugs. Cabot says the second lug is unnecessary in this 9mm operating system. Removing it reduces drag and allows the lightened slide to cycle more consistently across ammunition ranging from soft target loads to +P defensive rounds.

Cabot’s Full Cycle Technology is intended to give the shorter Commander-length slide the operating stroke and recoil characteristics of a full-size, 5-inch 1911.

The pistol also receives Cabot’s Advantage Internal Extractor. Its shorter internal arm is designed to improve consistency and durability. Eliminating the external extractor tunnel gives the slide a cleaner appearance while simplifying firing-pin-stop removal and other service work.

A flat-faced, 3.5-pound trigger comes standard.

Carry Sights, Optics and Capacity

Standard pistols come with a stainless steel ledge-style rear sight and red fiber-optic front sight. Buyers can also select Cabot’s optional low-mounted red-dot system for optics using the Trijicon RMR footprint. Compatible options include the RMR, RMR HD and SRO.

Aggressive serrations across the front, rear and top of the slide provide several gripping surfaces for loading, clearing or press-checking the pistol.

Each Midnight Rebellion MAX ships with two 17-round magazines. Cabot also offers 20-round magazines, while buyers in restricted states receive compliant 10-round versions.

Cabot plans to build only a limited number during 2027. Buyers can configure the pistol with different triggers, grips, magwells and other bespoke options. A nonrefundable deposit of $1,748.75 reserves an order, with Cabot confirming the estimated delivery date afterward.

The Midnight Rebellion MAX is made in Cabot, Pennsylvania, and starts at $6,995. Full specifications and ordering details are available through the Cabot Guns website.
