The 9 LTR-CS: PTR’s New 9mm PCC — SHOT Show 2025

in Mitchell Graf, SHOT Show 2025

PTR has launched the 9 LTR-CS, a refreshed version of their classic 9 CT that brings new features for enhanced performance and versatility.

The PTR 9 LTR-CS retails for around $2,000.

With a longer barrel and the addition of the PTR CS1 collapsible stock, the 9 LTR-CS offers a smoother shooting experience and greater tactical adaptability.

This report will dive into the rifle’s key updates, including its extended barrel, customizable stock options, and pricing, giving you a closer look at what makes this model stand out in PTR’s lineup.

Extended Barrel, Enhanced Performance

The 9 LTR-CS’s standout feature is its barrel. While the original 9 CT sported a roughly 8-inch barrel, the 9 LTR-CS upgrades to a 12.5-inch barrel. The longer barrel is paired with a muzzle extender, pushing the total length to the minimum 16 inches. The muzzle device is pin-and-welded to the threads of the barrel, ensuring compliance with regulations.

Buyers have two options for the 9 LTR-CS: a full rifle version or a pistol configuration. The rifle includes a 16-inch barrel. The pistol comes with a threaded end cap and butt cap. To convert it into an SBR, buyers must file a Form 1. Once approved, they can modify the firearm to a 12.5-inch version with the appropriate stock.

CS1 Stock: Tactical Adaptability

The “CS” in the 9 LTR-CS name reflects the inclusion of the PTR CS1 collapsible stock. This stock, made from polymer and steel, is designed to be lightweight and highly adjustable. It features four open positions, allowing users to quickly adjust the stock length between 10 and 13 inches to suit various operational needs.

Its ambidextrous design, coupled with a quick-release lever for easy adjustments, makes it a versatile choice for left- and right-handed users alike. It also weighs just 1.19 lbs and utilizes an integrated QD sling mount to add another layer of practicality.

Smooth, Low-Recoil Shooting Experience

One of the key selling points of the 9 LTR-CS is its smooth shooting experience. A PTR spokesperson described the recoil reduction compared to the original 9 CT as significant. This could make this rifle an attractive option for those looking for a lightweight, easy-to-control firearm.

Pricing and Availability

The PTR 9 LTR-CS is available now, with pricing varying based on configuration. The version with a collapsible stock comes with an MSRP of around $2,000.

A fixed stock version and a pistol configuration are priced similarly, around $1,900. According to the PTR rep I spoke with at SHOT Show 2025, these models should already be shipping.

I think I would rather get the CMMG Dissent in 9mm with a folding brace in a rad Cerakote.

You could get two CZ EVO carbines for the same price. It definitely has the cool factor.

Is anybody wanting a 12” 9mm tho? No reason for much more than 6-8” in 9mm

16 inch barreled carbines will produce velocities in the 1,600 fps plus range with various +P loadings like the Winchester M1152, sold also as “High Pressure.” If you have to have 16 inches you may as well get the most out of it.
