Silencer Central has named U.S. Sen. Mike Rounds of South Dakota its “U.S. Senator of the Year” for his work supporting hunters, sportsmen and lawful gun owners.
Company founder and CEO Brandon Maddox presented the award during an Aug. 17 ceremony at Silencer Central’s headquarters in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.
The company credited Rounds with consistently supporting Second Amendment rights. And backing legislation aimed at reducing unnecessary red tape for gun owners.
Rounds sponsored the Modernizing Law Enforcement Notification Act, or MLENA. The legislation sought to update the notification process for certain firearm transfers by allowing required notices to chief law enforcement officers to be delivered electronically instead of through the mail.
Silencer Central said the change would improve efficiency while keeping the process compliant with federal law.
Rounds has also served as a lead sponsor of the Hearing Protection Act. That legislation seeks to make suppressors more accessible by removing them from the National Firearms Act and treating them more like traditional firearms under federal law.

“Senator Rounds has always been willing to listen, engage and work toward practical solutions that matter to South Dakotans and the firearm community,” Maddox said.
“His leadership on issues like the Modernizing Law Enforcement Notification Act and his support of the Hearing Protection Act demonstrate a commitment to responsible firearm ownership and common-sense reforms.”
Maddox added that Silencer Central was proud to recognize Rounds and thanked him for his service to South Dakota and the country.
