Silencer Central is giving suppressor buyers another way to receive their purchases.
The company’s new Ship to Dealer option allows customers to purchase a suppressor online and have it sent to a participating local FFL for pickup. Silencer Central says its network includes more than 20,000 licensed dealers nationwide.
The launch follows ATF guidance issued October 9 stating that the agency will no longer enforce federal approval and registration requirements for suppressors and several other formerly taxed NFA items.
Where state law allows, buyers can now pick up a suppressor from a participating dealer by completing ATF Form 4473 and passing a NICS background check. No Form 4 application or wait for ATF approval is required under the agency’s current enforcement policy.
Customers now have two checkout options:
- Front Door Delivery: Silencer Central handles the traditional Form 4 process and ships the approved suppressor directly to the buyer.
- Ship to Dealer: The suppressor goes to a selected local FFL, where the buyer completes the required transfer paperwork and background check.
States that require suppressors to remain federally registered may still require the Form 4 process. ATF’s new guidance does not override state or local restrictions.
“Now that ATF has updated its guidance, we’re giving customers a choice,” Silencer Central founder and CEO Brandon Maddox said.
For buyers who prefer working with a neighborhood gun shop, Ship to Dealer provides a straightforward alternative to Silencer Central’s established front-door delivery model.
