This one is as strange and disturbing as it gets.
A professional cornhole player, known for overcoming massive physical adversity, is now at the center of a murder investigation that’s leaving a lot of people scratching their heads.
According to reporting from CBS News, 27-year-old Dayton Weber — described as a quadruple amputee and a top-level competitor in professional cornhole — has been charged with first- and second-degree murder after a deadly incident inside a vehicle in Maryland.
And the details only get more bizarre from there.
Police say Weber was driving a Tesla SUV Sunday night with three other people inside when things turned violent. Investigators allege that during an argument, Weber shot and killed 27-year-old Bradick Michael Wells inside the vehicle.
One of the passengers reportedly told police that after the shooting, Weber pulled over and asked the remaining occupants to help remove the body.
They refused. Instead, they got out and left the scene.
Authorities say Weber then drove off with the victim still inside the vehicle. About two hours later, a resident called 911 after spotting what appeared to be a body in a yard.
That body was later confirmed to be Wells.
Weber was eventually located at a hospital in Virginia and taken into custody shortly after. He now faces serious charges, and extradition back to Maryland is underway.
What makes this case hit differently is who Weber is, or at least, who people thought he was.

By all accounts, he was seen as an inspiration. A quadruple amputee competing and winning in professional cornhole tournaments isn’t something you see every day.
But investigators also describe him as a “gun enthusiast,” pointing to videos he posted online showing him handling and firing firearms.
Now, those same details are being viewed through a very different lens. And that’s where this story takes another turn.
Because beyond the shock factor, there are real questions here that haven’t been answered yet.
What exactly happened inside that vehicle? What led to the argument? And maybe the biggest one: how does a situation like this escalate to deadly force in such a confined space?
There’s also the uncomfortable reality that cases like this tend to get spun quickly, especially when firearms are involved.
But right now, the facts are still coming together. A man is dead. Another man, once seen as an underdog success story, is now facing murder charges.
And a situation that started with four people in a car ended in a body being left in a yard. It’s early, and there’s a lot we still don’t know. So, stay tuned.
