If you’re in the market for a piston-driven .308 that promises precision without sacrificing reliability, Primary Weapons Systems has something new to put on your radar.
The Idaho-based manufacturer has announced its updated MK2 MOD 2-M rifle, available with either a 16-inch or 18-inch barrel. Both versions are chambered in .308 Winchester and backed by PWS’s sub-MOA accuracy guarantee when paired with quality match ammunition.

The biggest decision comes down to how you plan to use it.
The 16-inch model keeps things compact and maneuverable, making it a solid option for hunting, patrol, or anyone who prefers a handier rifle. Step up to the 18-inch version, and you’ll squeeze a little more velocity and reach out of the same platform.

Under the hood, both rifles use PWS’s long-stroke piston operating system with a three-position adjustable gas regulator. Whether you’re running suppressed or unsuppressed, the system is designed to vent excess gas forward, helping keep the receiver cleaner and cooler than traditional direct-impingement designs.
PWS also incorporates its patent-pending Bore Evacuator, which uses an expansion chamber and the Venturi effect to redirect excess gas at the muzzle. The goal is simple: make the rifle more pleasant to shoot, especially with a suppressor attached.
Both rifles ship with the company’s FRC 3 Port compensator, which is compatible with PWS PUB suppressor mounts as well as many HUB taper-mount systems.
The accuracy side of the equation starts with a 41V50 stainless steel barrel featuring a 1:10 twist, giving shooters flexibility across a wide range of .308 bullet weights.
Beyond the barrel, PWS packed the rifles with quality components, including a Radian Raptor charging handle, Radian Talon ambidextrous safety, ambidextrous magazine and bolt controls, a Magpul MOE-SL stock, PWS pistol grip, and a 20-round Magpul PMAG.

The semi-monolithic free-float M-LOK handguard is secured by PWS’s proprietary barrel nut, adding rigidity while helping maintain the rifle’s accuracy potential.
The 16-inch model tips the scales at 8 pounds, while the 18-inch version comes in at just 8.15 pounds, making the weight difference almost negligible.
For shooters who want .308 power in a refined piston platform (and like having the confidence of a factory-backed sub-MOA guarantee) the new MK2 MOD 2-M checks a lot of boxes.
The rifles are available now through Primary Weapons Systems dealers. MSRP: $2,599.95. Learn more HERE.
