Representative Thomas Massie (R-KY) has reintroduced the Second Amendment For Every Registrable Voter Act (SAFER Voter Act), H.R. 1643, aiming to repeal the federal ban on handgun purchases for adults aged 18 to 20 from Federal Firearms License (FFL) holders.

Why the SAFER Voter Act Matters
Did you know you 18 to 20 year olds can serve in the military (and even have to register for the draft if they are male), but federal law prohibits them from purchasing a handgun from a licensed dealer?

I filed legislation yesterday to restore their right to self defense. https://t.co/VJK1aaPBIr
Currently, federal law prevents 18- to 20-year-olds from purchasing handguns from licensed dealers, despite allowing them to vote, sign contracts, get married, and serve in the military.
Massie argues that this restriction violates basic constitutional rights.
“Why should a 20-year-old single mom be denied the right to defend herself and her children?” said Representative Massie.

The bill seeks to end this age-based restriction, ensuring that all law-abiding adults can exercise their Second Amendment rights.
Support from Gun Rights Organizations
The Gun Owners of America (GOA) and the National Association for Gun Rights (NAGR) have thrown their weight behind the SAFER Voter Act.
GOA’s Aidan Johnston calls the current restriction “a second-class right” and says anti-gun groups use it to discourage young Americans from gun ownership.
NAGR’s Hunter King condemns the law as “blatant discrimination” and urges all pro-2A lawmakers to co-sponsor the bill.
Strong Congressional Support
The SAFER Voter Act has backing from key Second Amendment Caucus members, including:
- Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-CO)
- Rep. Andrew Clyde (R-GA)
- Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA)
- Rep. Chip Roy (R-TX)
- Rep. Victoria Spartz (R-IN)
- Rep. Harriet Hageman (R-WY) and others
The Fight for Second Amendment Rights
Massie’s bill is a direct challenge to federal laws that treat law-abiding 18- to 20-year-olds as second-class citizens when it comes to gun ownership.
Given the growing legal challenges to age-based firearm restrictions, the SAFER Voter Act could play a key role in restoring rights to millions of young adults.
Stay tuned as this legislation moves through Congress and the fight for 2A rights continues.
*** Buy and Sell on GunsAmerica! ***
Here in Oregon the Dems have come up with a proposal they want to pass in the State legislature to require a permit to buy a gun which will be about $165.00 then have to graduate from a new, expensive, long term safety class, then go through a universal background check, (which is already required, and has been in effect for many years, then every two years you have to renew a gun permit for every gun you currently own. The whole thing reeks of infringement, and someone needs to pass legislation that it is a crime to infringe on the 2nd Amendment. If nusence laws are such a great idea for our society why don’t the registered Democrates pay a $1,000 extra each year on their State Income Tax for each Concealed Carry Permit holder to receive a $1,000 payment for being an armed, and ready Minuteman or Minute Woman for the idea that there is a extra help concept of an armed good guy hopefully around when a deranged, dangerous criminal decides to strike innocent, unarmed people. The Universal background check is a good idea, and has worked well for me personnally for many years. Also the Concealed Carry Permit idea is a good idea, and I just re-uped my permit, but these other ideas are just worthless except to intentionally turn good citizens into criminals. Also they want to outlaw all 30 round magazines. People who already own 30 round S&W .22 Mag. guns. 10/22 Ruger .22 LR rifles, Kel Tec PMR-30 .22 Mag pistols are not going to hand them in. They will keep them and use them. Are the Dems going to police and pay for all the court costs and prison cost, then cover all the welfare costs and medical costs for the families of the good guy people who just can’t stnd it that they let all the real criminals go, while they piss off good citizens who happen to be firearm owners?
We are either a nation governed by good and fair laws or we are nitwits who allow local political people who openly violate the constitution. What part of “Shall not be infringed”, are these worthless dirt bags not understanding.
Current political logic states 18-20 year olds can legally purchase marijuana from a licensed drug dealer, but 18-20 year olds cannot legally purchase a handgun from a licensed gun seller.
OBVIOUSLY SOMEBODY WAS HIGH WHEN THEY CAME UP WITH THIS.
and young children can make their own decisions for oddball fringe medical procedures
