Celebrity doctor and Pennsylvania senatorial candidate Dr. Mehmet Oz is taking fire from gun-rights advocates for articles he published in 2017 and 2019 that advocate for gun control.
The Republican candidateâs byline is on the editorials, but he denies writing them. The âYouDocsâ syndicated column was co-written by Oz and his business partner, Dr. Michael Roizen. Oz claims that Roizen was the primary author of the articles, and Roizen confirmed in a letter to Fox News that Ozâs involvement was âminimal.â
The articles in question advocate for an âassault weaponâ ban, red flag laws, New Zealand-style gun buyback programs, universal gun purchaser licensing, and mandatory waiting periods.
One article from July 2019, for example, characterizes state restrictions on semi-automatic rifles as âgood newsâ and calls for a reinstitution of the nationwide ban on such firearms.
Another article from 2017 repeats the false claim that âalmost every gun owner in the U.S. supports tighter gun lawsâ and describes those who legally carry a concealed firearm as âscary!â

âJust think how many lives strict background checks and tighter automatic weapon, magazine and ammunition regulations could save without impinging on anyoneâs rights,â Oz and Roizen write.
Not everyone is buying Ozâs claim that he didnât know or support the content of the articles.
âWhatâs most striking about this is that Oz thinks that Pennsylvania Republicans are dumb enough to buy this nonsense,â said Arthur Schwartz, a Republican operative. âNo one actually believes that he was so offended by the content of these columns that he waited until he was running for senate in a Republican primary to disown them.â
The Pennsylvania chapter of Gun Owners of America posted an article on their Facebook page quoting Schwartzâs comment. They also released a statement of their own on the social media platform: âDr. Oz tries to disavow gun control articles. If his name is on them, they are attributable to him, regardless of who actually penned them. If Oz didnât support what was written, he should never have co-authored them.â

None of the eight comments underneath the post defend the doctor. âHe can deny all he wants. I still donât trust him. Wonât be voting for him, either. He needs to go back to New Jersey and stay there,â one comment reads.
Ozâs opponents in the GOP primary have jumped on the opportunity to slam the doctor. Dave McCormick, the leading Republican candidate in the race, said in a statement that Oz âhas a long public record and history of being enthusiastically anti-Second Amendment.â
âHe has supported red flag laws and sided with extreme left gun grabbers to try to take away guns from Americans,â the statement continued. âNow Mehmet is hoping PA voters will forget he is anti-gun and the fact he will not support our constitutional rightâ
The Pennsylvania primary election will take place on May 17th.
Always follow the money and when they have that much money behind them power is the next level that fuels their ambition and their agendas. The Dems need to get âRepublicansâ AKA Rinos to give credence to so-called Bipartisan votes. Oz will turn on the American people just like the other traitors in both houses have done when the commiedems need them too. Remember, they will all lie to achieve their sinister plans
Oz is still one thousand times better than that democrat freak.
Just what we need, another RINO. No thank you.
Pa. , you folks can do as you like . I wouldnât trust the â little rich boy â
any farther than I could pick his double-talking behind up , and throw him .
I would go with the proven candidate in this race, not Dr. Oz.! Why take a chance?
I wouldnât trust him, he already came out that he supports the Red Flag law.
I wouldnât vote for OZ no matter what his stance on guns.
Let me see which way is the wind blowing today I guess thatâs the way Iâll be going, typical Democrat lying BS. Wouldnât be surprised if Oprah is funding his campaign
Either you did or you didnât write them. If you did say so like a Man, not a like a Democrat. If we donât have guns we face grave danger from Countries who wish to invade us from both inside and out. Remember the Japanese Admiral who said the US could never be held , because behind every bush, was a citizen with a gun
Yaâll seen enough yet? Yaâll know what needs to be done, Git r Dun! NCSWIC, WWG1WGA, P.A.N.I.C. Letâs Go Brandon, FJB and all satanâs demon spawn minions, they deserve dirt naps.

Smells like b-ll sh-t to me
As a medical doctor, Iâm certain Dr. Oz has seen his own share of gunshot wounds and stab wounds when he was working as an emergency room physician which might explain his perspective on gun control which so many physicians seem to share. Dr. Ozâs primary duties are today are as a heart surgeon when he is not appearing on his own television variety show.
As far as perspectives, just keep in mind who owns Dr. Ozâs television network show, none other than the billionaire, Oprah Winfrey, who is an intimate friend of all-things-left, and a staunch proponent of gun control as she is a member of the Hollywood Democrat Elite.
There are many individuals who would like to obtain a position of legislative power in our society today to influence the direction our society travels to in the future. Our founding fathers never knew of the special interest groups and the lobbyists which we have today muddying the waters of the legislative branch of our government.
Being influenced by individuals like Oprah Winfrey is as bad as being influenced by George Soros or Michael Bloomberg, in my own humble opinion. If those billionaires want a life in the legislative branch, then perhaps they should campaign and if elected pursue the interests of their constituents, not carry-out a subversive campaign to change America in the image which they wish to see.
I would not vote for Dr. Oz based upon what I have seen here today and what I already know, and how I feel, that the Democrats will not rest until America is summarily disarmed.
What would be the treatment plan for stepping on your tongue?
Practicing how to lie and obfuscateâŠ.he should run on the Democrats ticket next time
These articles were written 5 years ago and now heâs saying he didnât write them? Sounds like a typical scumbag lying politician to me!
