David Hogg’s Democracy Disdain is Really Contempt for You

in News

By Larry Keane

U.S. Sen. John Kennedy (R-La.) is right.

“Our secret plan for dealing with the Democrats is called ‘Operation: Let them speak.’” Sen. Kenedy told Fox News. “That’s good for our party, but it’s bad for America.”

Sen. Kennedy is always colloquially colorful. He’s blessed with keen observations coupled with sharp wit. Add to that list of attributes his ability to be prescient. Less than two weeks after delivering his biting remarks, gun control advocate and now Vice Chair of the Democratic National Committee (DNC) David Hogg is proving the senator’s plan to be effective.

“We go out there, as Democrats, and say democracy is the most important thing. We have to defend democracy,” Hogg told CBS News. “We fail to acknowledge that this generation, democracy is what put us through school shooter drills and school shootings. It’s what put us through the climate crisis and so much more.”

That’s a Harvard University education in action for you. No introspection. No Socratic method of learning that invites critical thinking and delves into underlying beliefs. Hogg’s rote memorization of talking points is revealing. It lays bare his – and that of his political allies’ – contempt for the truth, the actual wheels of democracy in motion and most revealingly those who actually participated in democracy.

David Hogg’s version of democracy is sounding a lot more like dictatorship and less about the voice of the people. It could be dismissed as the rantings of radical gun control outlier, buoyed by Michael Bloomberg’s billions of dollars to foist an agenda that strips law-abiding Americans of their rights. Not any longer since he was elected by the DNC to represent their vision and steer their party’s future.

Like Sen. Kennedy said, it’s good for those who want to run against his platform. It’s also terrible for America.

David Hogg Targets: Democracy

Hogg’s admonition of “democracy” as the cause of school shooter drills and school shootings is a disgusting abrogation of the truth. He should know better. It is the warped and deranged murderers who prey upon the most innocent of American society that brought about these tragedies. Failure to confront that reality is willful and dangerous ignorance.

Hogg would rather blame anyone and everything else – especially those who dare disagree with him – for causing those unspeakable acts – all to advance a hollow political agenda. He’d rather blame the system of government that is predicated upon the people who are governed for having a voice in that government than holding the rotten and twisted criminals who visited unspeakable acts of criminal violence on innocents.

That’s hardly new for Hogg. He’s blamed firearms for criminals’ craven hearts and decision to carry out their heinous crimes. He’s blamed the firearm industry that provides the means for law-abiding citizens to protect themselves and their loved ones against those who have no respect for life or law. Now, he’s blaming democracy itself because free citizens refuse to kowtow to his disarmament edicts.

His contempt isn’t just for those who disagree with his gun control agenda. He scorns the people who won’t knuckle under to his undemocratic points of view.

Hogg’s revulsion for democracy, the American Republic and the freedoms which it espouses is an admission that he reviles America itself. He – and his party – aren’t seeking to represent the will of the people in their government. They are looking to dictate it.

Two Truths and a Lie

Here’s the truth. Criminals commit crimes, sometimes shockingly evil crimes. Those criminals must be held to account. They are not fit to live in, nor participate in the society in which we live. That’s why the American Republic democratically elects representatives to pass and enforce laws to protect the people they are tasked to govern. That’s the social contract. Government’s first and primary responsibility is to protect the people it governs.

Here’s another truth. Americans’ rights are granted by our Creator – not government. That includes the right to keep and bear arms. Government cannot grant this right. It is a natural right which exists outside of government and cannot be plucked away at the whims those who might wish it to disappear. The Bill of Rights recognizes this.

That pre-existing right to keep and bear arms is the bulwark that hedges against a tyrannical government that cruelly and oppressively rules instead of governs.

Here’s the lie. Hogg, and his fellow antigun zealots steering their political party in un-American directions, jealously guard democracy. That couldn’t be further from the truth. Hogg’s proposal is a Faustian bargain. In the words of Francis Bacon, he would “Cure the disease and kill the patient.”

In other words, Hogg’s definition of democracy would be so much better if “the people” just didn’t have a say. That’s not democracy. That’s tyranny.

It’s also why Sen. Kennedy’s “Operation: let them speak” might be the most democratic idea being bantered about today.

    Two things:
If everyone were to ignore this idiot, slam the door in his face, he’ll eventually will fade away. It’s happened before and it will happen again. One example is Madonna.
Second, if he has such a hatred for this country, why don’t he just leave.

Coming from the party that appears to be incapable of telling the difference between a man and a woman, are you actually surprised? It boggles the mine that rational adults would put Democrats in charge of anything.

DOWN WITH DAVID “PIG SH*T” HOGG AND ALL WHO THINK AS HE. !!!! HE IS WHAT THE DEMOCRAT POLITICAL PARTY IS BECOMING . WATCH & LISTEN TO HIM, HIS WORDS ARE VERY “HITLERTARIAN” LIKE WHEN IT COMES TO REPUBLICANS AND THOSE THAT DEFEND THE CONSTITUTION . WE DON’T HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT THE EVIL OUTSIDE THE USA .. WE NEED TO WORRY ABOUT THE EVIL INSIDE THE USA !!!!!!!

I seem to remember when Hogg first started making news after the Parkland shooting reading that his father worked for the FBI. Between his upbringing and all his schooling he has failed to learn anything about the U.S. Constitution.

I agree with you in principle, but I wonder more if David Hog and the politicians who support him are doing so more for personal enrichment having discovered how just HOW EASY IT IS to generate massive revenue through a militant, anti-second amendment stance than it would be to to stand on defendable principles. In my mind that makes them disposable tools, useful idiots to the real danger facing not just American democracy but GLOBAL FREEDOM and DEMOCRACY.
Having read the Constitution and supporting documents going back to before John Locke, I do not believe that there are geographical or nationalistic boundaries for the principals contained within them. Remember there is Constitutional Law and State Law and they do not always protect the same values.
Therefore it is vital that these people are exposed for what they are as well as who is behind them financially and for what purpose.

Of course if it was up to me, a simple man, I would say that it is time to once again
refresh the Tree of Liberty with the blood of patriots and tyrants, but doing so in today’s world would quite possibly get me branded as a malcontent, a no good troublemaker and an undomesticated terrorist because of my views.

As a two career twice retired LEO whose worn a badge and carried a gun every day since my 18th birthday (now 77)I feel qualified to call David Hogg an intellectually vapid POS circling the toilet bowl. He is the perfect example of how far the Democratic Party has fallen. From his first appearance on CNN, that bastion of media integrity? he has been telling lies. He was not a witness to the Parkland school shooting, he wasn’t even there! He rode up on his Big Wheel tricycle after the fact and was interviewed by CNN.

And just what do we expect from a Left Wing Socialist?

  • Chad Stuart April 25, 2025, 8:29 am

As a 25 year retired Law Enforcement Officer, I cannot understand how firearms has anything to with climate change. Furthermore I have a real issue blaming gun manufacturers with gun violence. I have 2-AR rifles, numerous pistols, semiautomatic rifles and shotguns and my firearms have never shot anyone!! It’s not the guns fault nor is it the manufacturer. People want to go after gun manufacturers because it’s all about the money!!

It’s like Ronald Reagan said: “We must reject the idea that every time a law’s broken, society is guilty rather than the lawbreaker. It is time to restore the American precept that each individual is accountable for his action”

Hogg failed as a pillow mogul but he is still determined to be a fast track millionaire. Most likely Hogg will just line his pockets and further the decline of the DNC.

    • Blue Dog (he/him) April 23, 2025, 7:05 pm

I was a little disappointed when the Good Pillow company folded. I am always keen to try out new pillows. My current arrangement is byzantine to say the least.

      • Kane April 24, 2025, 9:27 am

Have you tried Mike Lindell’s offerings with “My Pillow”? Lindell is a good Christian that was able to overcome a serious drug addiction. Right now, he is facing tremendous legal and financial difficulties.

        • Blue Dog (he/him) April 24, 2025, 1:29 pm

Kane, it may surprise you to learn that I am the owner of several My Pillows. Both my parents and my mother-in-law give my wife and I things that have been advertised on Fox News for Christmas and birthdays. We have probably gotten everything My Pillow has to offer three times over. The houseshoes are quite comfy. The coffee is decent. But the pillows just don’t feel all that great to me.

          • Kane April 25, 2025, 9:48 am

Do you expect Hogg to succeed as a vice chairman? Most experienced Dems see Hogg as reckless novice and the Reps are happy to agree.

    • Blue Dog (he/him) April 28, 2025, 2:03 pm

Re: Do I think David Hogg will do a good job as DNC vice chairman?

What even is his job? In theory, his job is supposed to be filling elected seats with as many Democrat butts as possible, from President down to dog catcher. The people that voted for him probably were offering what he represented a seat at the table – young people and the anti-gun lobby. Is his voice supposed to steer the party in a way that will pick up more voters, or is he there to steer more voters to whatever lunacy that is decided on by the Democrat national party (I spit that out – nothing worse than a professional who works for a volunteer organisation, whether we are talking a political party, breast cancer runs, united way, red cross, whatever)?

10 years ago, Tulsi Gabbard had his job. She checked a lot of intersectional boxes and she was smart. I voted for her in 2020 – did I vote for a Republican in Democrat clothing? She was a loss to the party. I hope the Republicans can figure out how to use her wisely and well. Tulsi wasn’t a yes-woman. Too much Howard Roark in her. Hogg is not totally an empty vessel but he will follow the lead of the crowd, so long as his calls for common sense gun violence solutions are considered.

He is a smiling face that will run in front of cameras and argue for the Democrats. He plays well to the camera, at least with a sympathetic media. I don’t know if any reporters have challenged him much and he’s probably smart enough to keep the deck stacked in his favor. The job of vice party chairman is like Vice President in that the job is so unimportant and out of the way that it is probably more of an accomplishment to be a bad vice chairman than a good one.

“Progressives” and “fascists” are just two sides of the same totalitarian coin! Hogg is a shining example of that

Centrally planned, command economies will have points of commonality. When they sieze your property or business or means of production, how important is it if they claim legitimacy from the people or the state?
