The U.S. House just did something huge—by a razor-thin 215-214 vote, they passed H.R. 1, the One Big Beautiful Bill Act.
Packed inside that monster bill?
Section 2 of the Hearing Protection Act, which completely removes suppressors from the National Firearms Act (NFA).
That’s right—no more NFA tax stamps. No more paperwork purgatory. No more waiting a year just to protect your ears.
This move is a massive win for gun owners, hunters, sport shooters, and anyone who’s tired of the government treating a muffler for your rifle like it’s a nuke. It’s common-sense hearing protection, and now it’s one step closer to being treated like it.

John Commerford, Executive Director of NRA-ILA, called it what it is: a turning point.
“This represents a monumental victory for Second Amendment rights, eliminating burdensome regulations on the purchase of critical hearing protection devices.”
The NRA threw some major thanks to Speaker Mike Johnson and the rest of the House leadership crew who pushed this over the line—Scalise, Emmer, Smith, Arrington, Foxx, Hudson, Hern, Cline, and Clyde.
The American Suppressor Association dropped the news fast:
BREAKING: The House PASSES the amended reconciliation bill — including the FULL REMOVAL of suppressors from the NFA — by a 215-214 vote!

“BREAKING: The House PASSES the amended reconciliation bill — including the FULL REMOVAL of suppressors from the NFA — by a 215-214 vote!”
Now it’s the Senate’s move. The pressure’s on. The momentum is real. And if the Senate follows through, we’re looking at one of the most meaningful pro-2A wins in years.
Stay loud, stay legal, and stay ready. The war on silencers might finally be over.
UPDATE: The Bloomberg-funded Everytown for Gun Safety Responds:
“There’s a reason silencers have been regulated for nearly a century: They make it much harder for law enforcement and bystanders to react quickly to gunshots,” said John Feinblatt, president of Everytown for Gun Safety. “In the name of gun industry profits, House Republicans are putting law enforcement and our communities at greater risk of being shot — all while gutting health care for millions of Americans.”

How do we find out which Republicans voted against or present and who didn’t vote at all?
Here is a dumb shit Democrat 28 years old (how he got that dumb in 28 years I’m not sure. He talks about Republicans stealing from the poor and giving to the rich but makes no specific examples. He is anti silencer; yes the points he makes against legalizing silencers are good but he contradicts it when using the example of a “criminal” with a .45 ACP committing a crime with a silencer making it difficult for police to trace! Currently silencers require licensing but it didn’t stop a criminal from having one so what is his point? Committing a crime with a gun or silencer is still what? A crime!
This is great news for sure as I have hunting most of my life and unfortunately my ears have been compromised and only wish this was an option earlier in my life but I look forward to seeing this pass so I can buy one without all this having to wait a year or longer to get one. I’m disabled but love to hunt and to have this option to protect my years and recoil of the weapon is a great opportunity.
I really wish sources like this would stop with the headlines proclaiming suppressors have been removed from the NFA!! They haven’t!! It’s like claiming you finished a 25 mile marathon because you made it to the 12.5 mile mark. Right now there are hundreds or maybe thousands of gun owners out there who think this has already happened because all they do is read headlines.
All that happened was that the HPA squeaked through the House of Representatives. It still has to pass the Senate, in it’s full and unaltered form which is a huge obstacle. How about saving the sensationalism until AFTER we pass the finish line? It makes no sense to cause potential allies to stop caring because they now think the deal is done. We need those people to be calling their senators and demanding they support this instead of looking through suppressor ads for their new NFA free can.
Nothing will change until you get the career criminals OUT of office! Our Forefathers had already started a Revolution by now, and yet all we can do as a Nation, is bitch and moan and continue to reelect the same morons to office that do their masters bidding in exchange for kickbacks and money under the table. Doee no one wonder why they become millionaires while in office? Same shit, different day! Call your congressmen, senators and representatives, vote them out. It’s all designed to keep the American people from taking up arms, like that would ever happen again! Complacency! Have another be and scream at your tv. Stay complacent America!
When is the resepatory gun law going to be enacted for all states conceal carry.?
Do you mean “Reciprocal Gun Law”?
Be careful what you wish to happen under reconciliation rather than through the normal legislative process. Any taxes or fees that can get reduced can get increased through the same process and even expanded to something like the Pittman-Robertson Act. Same goes that removals from the NFA opens the path for future additions to the NFA. I don’t want to see the current congress pull a Harry Reid and trade a narrow victory for long term pain. I would love to see suppressors delisted and the tax stamp requirement removed but through the normal legislative process.
This is not good. It would have been much better to just remove the tax stamp, and the wait. Now shitbag, communist fucksticks like fergesson (Wa Gov) can ban them outright because they are not protected by anything. They already shit all over the 2A, and wipe their asses with the rest of the Constitution.
You forgot “Women, children, and minorities hardest hit”!! From the great one, Rush Limbaugh!!
The crooks have silencers. Why shouldn’t we? People should understand these don’t work if the bullet velocity is over 1100 fps, or the speed of sound. They are not a panacea of silence as portrayed by Hollywood. They work fine for non magnum pistols and special caliber rifles with heavy, slow moving bullets.
The Silencer I use on my Ruger Mini-14 Ranch Rifle, firing PMC .223 Remington 55 grain FMJs with a 2900 fps, works great. As quiet as a BB gun! From my experience, you are wrong!
I”m almost deaf due to use of firearms in my youth.
As I grew older I started using 3M ear plugs, same as the Military

More mealymouth moronic Penny Annie measures from the Congressional Criminals who installed and will not get rid of the two biggest insults to the Second Amendment of the U.S. Constitution which is the National Firearms Act (NFA) and the Gun Control Act (GCA actually installed by Reagan) which are both clearly unconstitutional and which should’ve been struck down by the Supreme Court which is supposed to be protecting the intent and protective wording of the US Constitution but they do not, and they need to go, along with the Congressional Criminals who installed all of these onerous things on the public trying to keep them under control, which is not the purpose of the U.S. Constitution or the U.S. Government!
Umm , Ante , not Annie… shrugs …
Oh thank you so much for trying to show me in the whole world how much smarter you are than anybody else except if that’s exactly what I wanted to say and you can take your remarks and stuff it!
when they spell check that means they ain’t smart enough to just stfu!
Now let’s see how they unwind CA’s vast list of unconstitutional law abusing the 2nd Amendment. Pistol lists, waiting periods, semi auto bans, Glock ban, Ammo buying licenses… the Democrats just keep coming up with new ways to deny gun owners their constitutional rights. It needs to end.
democrats and rinos must be removed from america for good
Following Everytown’s opinion, bows and crossbows are just shy of being nuclear weapons because you won’t hear it in a normal city environment.
England, who has some of the most restrictive laws for firearms is far more open to suppressors. In fact, for them, it’s considered tacky not to suppress in some environments.

I’ve paid $600 for suppressor “Stamps” and $1500 in lawyer fee’s for the right to own something that should be no harder to purchased than a hand gun. Serialized – not a problem. NFA restricted – yes, a problem. Keep your finger crossed for the upcoming senate vote that they don’t screw us.
This is great news. For us lawsuit abiding citizens. It’s amazing it did pass. And it’s even more amazing that, a criminal with a gun and or suppressed or not. Is still a criminal breaking the law. The politicians saying it is going to hurt people, seem to not understand, if they can’t buy a gun how are they gonna buy a suppression can? Removal of a tax( that NEVER SHOULD HAVE BEEN) Does not make it easier to get. Saves us money. They take too much already.
It is about time they do this. Paying two hundred dollars and waiting 8 to 12 months is ridiculous.
Dale, I’m with you, but your info is outdated. The wait has been reduced to about a week now for some time. Wallacem
*for some…. Not to mention the hurdle of fingerprints, etc..
I read the Big Beautiful Bill. Unless I’m reading it wrong, the only thing it does is take the tax from $200 to zero. If it incorporates any other aspect of the HPA, I wish someone would point it out to me.
You’re reading the wrong version. It seems that the first attempt at removing suppressors from the NFA was hampered by lobbying from at least one suppressor company. Allegedly, Silencer Central lobbied to keep suppressors under the NFA because they profit by doing the paperwork for anyone purchasing one of their products. When this was discovered it created a monumental stink in the 2A community which lead to a monumental wave of backlash and pressure on Republicans to return the full version of the Hearing Protection Act to the bill, which they did at the last minute. Silencer Central is denying that they did it but 2A attorney John Crump brought the receipts which makes it extremely difficult for Silencer Central to talk their way out of it. Maybe they have a legitimate explanation, I’ll save throwing stones until everything comes out in the wash once this over.
Now, the full version of the HPA was passed and on it’s way to the Senate. Who knows what will happen there. There’s also an attempt to have the SHORT act (removal of short barrel rifles and shotguns from the NFA) added back in because it also was pulled out by slimey anti 2A Republicans. That would require the bill to return to the house however since it passed with a razor thin majority the first time, I have my doubts they will do it.
As it stands, if the Senate passes the Big Beautiful Bill it will immediately be signed by the president and suppressors will officially be removed from the NFA. Unfortunately, they still require background checks and filling out a form similar to or the same as a 4473 which is ridiculous in my opinion. Suppressors should be sold as exactly what they are, an accessory, like red dot, a muzzle brake or a scope. That would require another fight and I’m not sure the swamp Republicans can handle it. Credit due to actual pro 2A Republicans like Rep. Clyde of Georgia for sponsoring and fighting for these acts.
I’ve looked at the official Bill. I do NOT see anything other than the tax reduction. Can you post a link to the version of the bill that it incorporates more of the HPA?
who knows, suppressors wont be suppressed anymore
