The tides have officially turned in Washington, and for once, they’re shifting in favor of the Second Amendment.
In two major moves this week, the Trump administration made clear it’s not playing defense when it comes to your right to keep and bear arms—it’s going on offense.

Driscoll Tapped to Lead ATF, Ending Era of Weaponized Bureaucracy
President Trump has appointed Daniel P. Driscoll as Acting Director of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF), signaling a dramatic course correction for the agency that’s spent the past four years under fire for overreach.
Driscoll, who also serves as Secretary of the Army, steps in following Acting Director Kash Patel’s short but impactful tenure.
Lawrence Keane, Senior VP and General Counsel for the National Shooting Sports Foundation (NSSF), called the appointment “indicative of [Trump’s] resolve to bring reform to the ATF and protect the Second Amendment rights of law-abiding citizens.”

That’s music to the ears of gun owners still reeling from Biden-era rules, like the “zero-tolerance” policy that punished FFLs for minor paperwork errors and the infamous brace ban that tried to criminalize millions overnight.
The NSSF emphasized that the firearm industry is ready to work with Driscoll to do what the ATF should’ve been doing all along: focusing on violent crime and illegal trafficking—not harassing lawful gun owners and retailers.
DOJ’s Gloves Are Off: Bondi Forms Second Amendment Task Force
But that’s not all. In a memo that’s already making waves, Attorney General Pamela Bondi announced the creation of a new Second Amendment Task Force inside the Department of Justice. And this isn’t just a feel-good PR stunt.
Bondi’s memo flat-out states:
“For too long, the Second Amendment, which establishes the fundamental individual right of Americans to keep and bear arms, has been treated as a second-class right. No more… President Trump has made protecting the Second Amendment rights a priority for this administration.”
Alan Gottlieb, Chairman of the Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms (CCRKBA), called it “the news we’ve been waiting for.”
“It’s great to have a Department of Justice defending Second Amendment rights,” he added, “instead of attacking them.”
The task force will be chaired by Bondi herself and include reps from the FBI, ATF, Civil Rights Division, Criminal Division, and others.
Its mission? To advance and defend the Second Amendment through litigation, policy, and compliance enforcement.

I would recommend that representatives from major manufacturing companies be included with the task force. Why? Feedback. If a policy, regulation or concern with new manufacturing of firearms or accessories, as will happen with new products, let the reps from the companies debate the usefulness, and give an opinion. Not all LOE are experts understanding new products and how the public responds to their use.
I hope Pam Bondi makes Governor Ferguson and the Democrats in Washington State suffer punishment.

I live in Colorado and our democratic governor just past into law this crazy gun package. Now I follow the rules and regulations the best I can. After August 1st certain guns can only fire one shot at a time this applies to King Polis state. Now that messes up all 2nd amendments rights. Now if I want to protect my property I ony get one shot even with my shotgun. I don’t know if the government can help or not, I’m afraid the NRA or STATE gun rights group have enough pull to get these stupid laws thrown out. Thank you!

I might add your “lame and laughable excuses” and attempt to justify short barreled rifles with the needs of handicapped people is again pure Far Right propaganda. For decades handicapped people have gone hunting and did not need short barreled rifles. Even the novice can watch hunting programs that span over 50 years showing the handicapped hunting with full size rifles or when legal pistols.
I might add the current and past NFA laws allow handicapped people and non-handicapped people to purchase short barreled rifles but they have to be registered when bought and sold keeping them out of the hands of lunatics and criminals. The success of the NFA laws is irrefutable proof registration works and works very well. I might add that after speaking myself to more than one “First Responder” they all said that they seldom were never to save a person who shot themselves in a suicide compared to people they saved who tried to slit their wrists, drown themselves or hang themselves or deliberately overdose on their medications. Yes, it’s just to easy to act on impulse with a firearm compared to the preparation that it takes with other methods of suicide which gives the suicidal person more time to think about the consequences of his actions, especially in regards to the effects they know will happen to their loved ones both in terms of mental anguish and the financial burdens that come when a loved one is lost.
I might also add resisting a robbery has shown that the majority of people killed in a robbery were cheapskates that tried to shoot it out with the robber because the cheapskates placed a few pennies in their wallet over their own lives.
