Here’s the part nobody in the gun community should ignore: a father, drinking, handling a loaded Glock during an argument, points it at his 23-year-old daughter. And she ends up dead.
And a Texas grand jury declined to indict.
According to reporting from the New York Post and testimony from a UK coroner’s inquest, Kris Harrison shot and killed his daughter Lucy Harrison on January 10, 2025, at his home in Prosper, Texas. Lucy had been visiting from the UK and was preparing to fly home that day.
The two had argued about guns and politics, reportedly including President Trump. Harrison later told police he was showing Lucy his Glock 9mm after watching a news segment on gun violence. He claimed the gun “just went off.”
He admitted he had been drinking.
A Texas grand jury ruled the shooting accidental and declined to bring charges. But a British coroner later rejected key parts of Harrison’s version of events, stating that Lucy was shot through the chest from across the bedroom.

Meaning the firearm had to be pointed directly at her when the trigger was pulled. The coroner described Harrison as “reckless” and said even if he didn’t intend to fire, he was handling a loaded gun during an emotionally charged exchange.
Let’s be clear: this is not a Second Amendment issue. This is a gun-handling issue.
You do not “tease” someone with a loaded firearm.
You do not handle a chambered weapon while drinking.
And, you do not point a gun at someone unless you intend to destroy what’s in front of you.
Every gun owner knows the rules. Or should.
For the firearms community, stories like this are a gut punch. Not because of politics. But because negligent handling fuels every anti-gun talking point in existence. One careless act becomes ammunition for those who want broader restrictions on everyone else.
Texas law may have called it an accident. The UK coroner called it reckless.
Either way, a young woman is dead because basic firearm safety was ignored.
And that’s something no responsible gun owner can defend.

The daughter, having been shot in Texas, United States of America, why was an United Kingdom “coroner” even brought in to the case?
The incident was in the U.S. not the UK. The coroner had no authority whatsoever. This incident has the foul hint of fabrication.
Dad deserves the same.

This is indeed a tragedy that should never have happened. Common sense would dictate that alcohol and firearms do not mix well, ever! Accidentally shooting and ultimately killing one’s child is horrible enough. Adding very combustible material to an already raging fire is worse. Being under the influence is not an excuse but rather the reason why this happened. Accident or not, the charge of involuntary manslaughter with a firearm is the logical action to take. Yes, I understand that this is NOT what we need in today’s anti-firearms culture however, this man needs to be held accountable by the letter of the law. It’s a two fold sentence for him. He broke the law and he has to live with killing his daughter. Truly sad.
Not sure why a coroner from The United Kingdom should weigh in on a shooting that happened in Texas. I know I don’t care what a UK coroner’s comments on this matter are.

He should receive some sort of felony charge and be banned from owning guns. This was ridiculously negligent, if not on purpose.

Sad that he was not charged. I know that her death will be with him for the rest of his life, but if he was charged and convicted of a felony, he would no longer be able to have any firearms. He should never be allowed to possess a firearm again! If he can’t control his temper or his drinking, he doesn’t need to have a gun.
THIS is my primary complaint about Glocks… With only a trigger ‘safety’, they are far to easy to accidently discharge. Drunken homicide or drunken accident, who knows? I refused to carry one, especialy in a shoulder holster, untill it was modded with the secondary safety.
I had a close friend accidently shoot his girlfriend several years ago. He usualy carried with the chamber empty, just because of this. He dropped the mag, and held the pistol under his arm as he was sitting down to clean it. When he went to move it he tagged the trigger, & it fired, hitting his girlfriend in the chest. She was behind him, half way across the room.
She survived and recovered. Both knew it was purely an accident, & ended up married a year or so later… They both had been to the range the previous day, both had handled the gun along with a few others, so how it missed being cleared was a mystery. Both where in LE, practiced regularly, & where practicaly religeous about gun safety.
I respectfully disagree. Glocks are fine firearms. I carry one as my EDC. I was asked to evaluate them for my last job, especially for safety issues. The only problems I found with Glocks were lack of training or lack of knowledge. Your friend broke a cardinal rule (probably several). He didn’t treat the gun as if it was loaded. Guns go in holsters with the trigger covered. He could have just as easily forgotten to put the safety on when he forgot to treat the firearm as if it were loaded. I don’t blame a gun because I fail follow the safety rules and it goes off.
Being a Glock has nothing to do with this except it was the weapon used.
i know a guy who has been carrying a glock for 14 yrs chamber loaded who hits the range at least once a month and never had a problem after 20k rds put through it……….hey wait a sec i’m that guy.
Will — you are absolutely WRONG! A Glock has 3 safeties and will not fire under any circumstances unless YOU pull the trigger. That’s why most LE agencies and a lot of country military’s use it as their primary weapon, I should know, I’m a member of the GSSF and own 12 Glocks. YOU are ultimately responsible for firearm safety, not the weapon.

Yes, they are safe internaly. But, it does come down to the single external safety…. The trigger.
I happen to have 3 glocks now, and the G17 is my primary carry. Prior to that, I carried a 1911 or a 226.
This was a long time ago, & Glocks where still ‘new’ (early 90’s) … Old carry habits die hard. Guns with heavier trigger pulls could be handled differently, and thumb safeties where an automatic action upon drawing.
Now, with years of experience, I love my glocks… I’m use to them & their differences from heavy steel. I’m still partial to my custom built 1911 with an tactical aluminum lower… A green laser compansates for aging eye sight. 😉

As a licensed gun dealer, I sold some of the first Glocks in the mid 80’s when they actually came out, actually not in the early 90’s. It is totally impossible for a Glock to fire inadvertently. Drop it, run over it with a truck, drag it behind an ATV through the dirt, hit it with a hammer, whatever your hearts desire – it’s not going to fire. Unless you pull the trigger, then it fires. That’s what a trigger is for.
It doesn’t need external safeties to have to worry about. What condition is it in, cocked & locked? Who cares, there is no cocked & locked! It doesn’t matter – pull the trigger – and it goes BANG. Don’t want it to go BANG? Then don’t pull the trigger. That’s the first rule of gun safety you’re suppose to learn anyway, right? Don’t touch the trigger until you’re ready to launch the lead!
I own 1911’s, and Sig’s, but that’s the last weapon I’ll carry for self defense BECAUSE of those safeties you tout AND have to worry about. If you feel comfortable carrying a German 88 for self defense, then great, as long as you carry SOMETHING!
A Glock is designed to be carried fully loaded with one in the chamber so all you have to do is pull the trigger, and yes, there’s a trigger safety – if you will. It still won’t fire, even if you half-ass pull the trigger, without engaging the safety lever at the same time. Trigger pulls? Glocks are designed with +/- 5.5lbs and striker fired. Once you get used it a striker fired weapon, it’s hard going back to a traditional style trigger. For that reason I can pick up any of my 12 Glocks and know there is a commonality between them all.
BTW – I had a conversation with Gaston Glock at a gun show many moons ago, and you couldn’t meet a nicer, more interested, and caring man. The man truly loved his customers!

Today we have had at least 4 generations of unskilled people who never have had a decent paying job.
In Civilized European Countries they spend 10 times the money we do here in Capitalvania to retrain people for jobs that pay enough to make a living on. European Manufacturing partners with the Government to pay for the retraining. Here in Capitalvania the Gangster Criminal Republicans block every job retraining program the Democrats try to pass. I’ve seen similar cases over the years when a parent does something so reckless that they cause the death of a child and the state decides not to charge the parent with a crime due to that parent already suffering the death of their child and the guilt of it being their fault. I don’t necessarily agree with that but I can almost understand the mindset where they think an involuntary manslaughter charge really doesn’t do anything more to punish a parent in this situation. The father may have escaped legal punishment but he’ll never escape his conscience.
He should have been arrested and charged with felony manslaughter, ESPECIALLY because he was “drunk” and shot her straight through the chest.
