Aimpoint Micro S-1: The Ideal Red Dot for Turkey Season

I don’t envy the Aimpoint engineer who drew the Micro S-1 assignment. Developing a plug-and-play red dot for a wide variety of shotguns must have been a nightmare. Most shotguns aren’t designed with optics in mind. Fortunately for us, Aimpoint’s engineers figured it out.

Wingshooting is equal parts mechanics and voodoo; it’s one of the shooting arts that never really came naturally to me. But, I do enjoy hunting ruffed grouse and pheasants, and a fine shotgun. The Fausti Class LX in 28 gauge is not your average shotgun.

One company that emerged during this past volatile decade that I think will thrive and grow is FMK Firearms. Until the FMK 9C1 G2 arrived for testing and review, I had never handled or seen one of their products. What happened next was possibly the best surprise I’ll have all year!

I am a firm believer that it should be within the reach of every person to own a ludicrously fast car, a stupidly powerful handgun and a magnum rifle that could take a T-rex off its feet at 1,000 yards. Savage has made that attainable. Enter the Savage 110 BA Stealth. It delivers high performance at a fraction of its .338 Lapua competitors.

“If only SIG Sauer would offer the P226 in more configurations,” said no one. Ever. Okay, I couldn’t help opening with a bit of snark, but if you pay attention to the firearms market you know that there are about as many SKUs for the P226 as there have been for G.I. Joe. Enter the P226 ASE. And it’s a beauty.

The AC-556 was based off the Mini-14. Ruger, Sturm& Co. introduced the Mini-14 in 1973, borrowing many of its design elements from both the M1 and the M14. Bill Ruger was interested in law enforcement and military sales, and to that end he released the GB (government bayonet) model. The GB offered a plethora of unique options.

The realm of ballistics can appear mythical. Ballistic technicians are constantly calculating ballistic coefficient and velocity in search of the golden round. These men and women occasionally produce a game changer. This is exactly the case with the folks over at Nosler and their new .22 Nosler.

Pistol Caliber Carbines, The Next Big Thing?

Pistol caliber carbines are fun and cheap to shoot and it doesn’t hurt that they are chambered in 9mm Luger, one of the most popular centerfire round in the world. This makes them great companion carbine for shooters who already own a 9mm pistol.
