The Springfield Armory Defender Series offers their proven, reliable guns at a discounted rate for a limited time. The first pistols available in the Defender Series are the XD 4” Full Size and XD 3” Sub-Compact both in 9mm at a jaw-dropping MSRP of $339!!!
Each comes packaged with a trigger lock, lubricating oil, and one magazine, a 16-rounder for the full size and a 13-rounder for the sub-compact model. There is an optional X-Tension 16-round magazine available for the sub-compact series.
Even though the XD is being offered at a discount, all the features and benefits of the original XD pistols remain. The hammer-forged steel slide is topped with steel 3-dot sights. Front and rear slide cocking serrations make it easy to manipulate the slide in all conditions. It measures 7.3“ long (6.25” for sub-compact), and has a Melonite finish for nearly maintenance-free service.
With Springfield’s loaded chamber indicator, you can visibly see and feel if there is a round in the chamber eliminating the need for a press-check. A striker status indicator protrudes slightly from the back plate when cocked allowing users to see and feel for striker readiness.
There are three safeties on XD pistols. There is a grip safety that should be familiar to those who own a 1911 and it operates the same way. If you’re not depressing the grip safety correctly, the gun will not operate. Same goes with the trigger blade safety. The final safety is an internal firing pin safety which prevents misfires from impacts.
The XD shares a similar grip angle as the 1911 making it ergonomic and comfortable. Light texturing on the frame, front, and back strap provide positive grip feedback without being overly aggressive. A wide flat-faced trigger aids the shooter in consistent trigger pull. An ambidextrous, over-sized magazine release allows for quick magazine changes. The frame has an integrated rail for weapon or laser light attachments.
Act fast as these will not be around forever. MSRP for both models is $339 but you can usually find them for less on GunsAmerica.

Great presentation. Especially enameled with the healthy magazine capacity. I have been looking at the new Mossberg 9mm, as well. How stiff is the slide to rack on the Springfield? Currently own a Walther PK .380 that is pretty effortless.

Have been carrying XD mod2, 45cal since it was available at my local Caliber’s, about 6 months ago. Extremely accurate, easy to shoot. It’s my EDC and I clean it infrequently, Never misfired I carry 40 rounds all the times. I shoot it every week at Calibers. I’m thinking of getting another in 9 mm!
