Springfield Armory has introduced four California-compliant versions of its Echelon pistol: two full-size 4.5-inch models (one with an integral compensator) and two compact 4.0-inch models (also with and without an integral compensator).
The new Echelons are built around Springfield’s patent-pending Central Operating Group, a self-contained stainless-steel chassis that is serialized and removable from the grip module.
Springfield says the chassis can be moved between grip modules in seconds, and each pistol ships with three interchangeable backstraps. Controls are fully ambidextrous.

Springfield also highlights its Variable Interface System, which uses self-locking pins to stabilize the optic and allow direct-mount fits for more than 30 popular micro red dots. U-Dot sights (a U-notch “Tactical Rack” rear and a tritium/luminescent front) come standard.
Ergonomic and handling features noted in Springfield’s release include four distinct slide engagement surfaces, a trench cut forward of the action for press checks, a flared rear for positive purchase, and deep serrations carried through the slide corners.
To meet California requirements, all four models include a loaded chamber indicator, a magazine disconnect, and ship with 10-round magazines. Springfield provided model numbers, UPCs, and MSRPs:
