Springfield Armory XD-E
The XD-E is a hammer-fired, double action/single action (DA/SA) polymer pistol that is ideal for home defense and concealed carry applications. It is ultra-compact with comparable dimensions to the Springfield XD-S. The external hammer provides several benefits over traditional striker-fired pistols. It reduces the effort to rack the slide by 27 percent, it can be carried “cocked and locked” like a 1911, and the ambidextrous safety also acts as a decocker that resets the trigger so it can be carried in DA or SA mode. It provides the ultimate safety especially for those who want to appendix carry.
The exposed hammer clearly signals the XD-E’s state of readiness. It can be manually cocked so it operates as a single action and can provide a second chance on light strikes or stubborn primers. The hammer allows easy selection between DA/SA operation. The trigger is smooth and crisp.

The XD-E features steel combat rear sights with white dots and a highly visible fiber-optic front sight. It comes with two magazines, a lock, a bore brush and extra fiber optic tubes. Offered in both 9mm and .45 ACP configurations, the pistols hold 8 or 9+1 rounds of 9mm and 6 or 7+1 rounds of .45 ACP respectively.
The low effort slide has six deep cut grooves for positive grip. The polymer frame has a front auxiliary rail for lights and/or lasers. It is an inch wide and weighs 25 ounces in 9mm or 23 ounces in .45 ACP.

I have to agree with Gunther, I also have several handguns built by a variety of manufactures. I suppose I saw something in every one of those guns that influenced my decision to spend some of my hard earned money on that weapon. I am a huge fan of a SA/DA primarily for the safety and security offered by a hammer fired hand gun with a de cocker that lets you lower the hammer rather than just dropping it. The ridicules ease of the 90deg. take down leaver that lets the slide come right off without having pull the trigger, 10 round or better magazine, fires EVERY time its ask to no questions asked!!! So on and so on. I guess you can say I’m a Sig guy, I have several others, but I guess I’ll just keep on carrying these boat anchors around for a while longer. Haters will have to just keep on hating. KOCA
I’m very surprised for me the very first think to be done is this insure the gun is not loaded.
The XDE is a nice gun and from the factory its should not be loaded but that’s only an assumption.

UMMMMM striker fired is NOT the traditional. Hammer fired is. Which makes this a traditional fired pistol as opposed to the more common (now) more modern striker fired system.
Ever notice how all the haters are Sig enthusiasts? Oh my Sig this and that BS.. My honest opinion is Sig’s are way overpriced antiquated boat anchors and not at all worth their weight in a real firefight. They are extremely finicky with ammo and will let you down in a real firefight. This Springfield XDE is a very nice choice for what Steve just explained. I feel Springfield is onto something for the select people that want that hammer and double action on their automatics. What did this video have to do with Sig’s?
I own about 24 handguns, six are various Sigs. The Sigs are well made and extremely reliable – all of them. My former dept (AZ DPS) initially issued the Sig 220 then later the Sig 226, 229 or 239 depending on the users preference from 1988 to the mid 20 teens. I carried both a 226 and 239 in 40 cal – I’ve never had a single malfunction that wasn’t ammo induced (squib rd – once). Every one of my Sigs have fed every kind of ammo I’ve fed into them without a hiccup. They are not finicky with various ammo, quite the opposite – they function with every kind of ammo fed. That includes a 220 SAO SSE 10mm, 226 40/357, 239 40/357, 230 380, X Carry 9mm, and a 220 45. They are amongst the most reliable pistols I own. They are not as heavy as an all steel handgun (except the 220 SSE SAO) but yes, they are heavier than a polymer pistol (except the X Carry). Overpriced? I suppose that’s subjective. Boat anchor? Hardly. I’m guessing you don’t own a Sig because if you did you wouldn’t say this. I suspect the other Sig owners here are proud of their pistols and that’s why they’re making some unnecessary snarky comments. There’s nothing unsafe about the way the XDE decocks and yes, the 365 is innovative, it holds 10 rds in a smaller package. I looked at the 365 but for someone with big hands some pistols can be too small – the 365 is in that category for me as my fingers wrap all the way around the grip and back into my palm. I would need to add a slip-on grip.
As for the SA XDE, I like it a lot, it was on my short list when I was searching for a small single stack 9mm (yes, some of us want single stacks), as was the S&W Shield, the Walther PPS M2 and the Glock 43. I felt they were all on equal terms, I picked the Glock 43 and modified the mags for 7+1. I would love to have an XDE some day, it’s an excellent small pistol with great owner reviews.

I will only conceal carry with a hammer fired gun! One in chamber, safety off. Double action IMO is the safest, and most “ready for anything” way to carry.
I have the .45 ACP XDE and it is a very sweet deal! I love the way it handles and I could shoot it all day. As a CCP carry is fantastic!

If only they made this design in a double stack magazine for a .40 Smith & Wesson with a 3.75 inch barrel. You could easily get 12 round capacity and I would probably sell my old .40 Smith & Wesson handgun for it. For now my heart is set on a Smith & Wesson M&P 40 M2.0 3.6 inch barrel Compact Manual Thumb Safety.
When they make there pistols left hand friendly I’ll consider it.
Don’t like how the decocking slams the hammer down. My Sig 239 eases the hammer down.
Cute gun but when is Springfield gonna chase after the 10rd mag in a pocket pistol size like the Sig P365? As soon as he said it came with 8rd and 9rd mags I looked at the size of the pistol and decided it was to big to fit in the pockets where my P365 sits everyday comfortably.

Why is it that almost every new release is some sort of short barrel hide out gun? I know they’re popular right now, but would it hurt the manufacturers to offer longer barreled options? Like a 5″ or longer?
I really like my XDs 9mm. Shoots every time I pull the trigger. Also took advantage of the gear up program last year and have lots of free goodies

I love my Springfield 9mm guns and took advantage of the magazine offer. Not sure which new 9mm Springfield gun I will buy next but it will be soon.
