Reddit just dropped a bomb on the gun community. In a notice sent to moderators this week, the platform announced new restrictions to Rule 7, taking effect October 9, 2025, that will ban all user-to-user sales of firearm parts and enhancements — including optics.

The change expands the existing rule against facilitating gun and ammo sales to now include:
- Firearms parts and enhancements (bolts, triggers, magazines, suppressors, conversion kits, etc.)
- Specific instructions or files for making those parts (like 3D printing).
That means major trading subs such as r/GunAccessoriesForSale — long a popular exchange hub for optics, triggers, and other upgrades — are effectively dead. Mods have already locked the subreddit and plan to post farewell statements before Reddit’s admins shut it down. Smaller niche trading communities are expected to follow.

The only things still allowed (for now): “non-enhancing” gear — like holsters, gun safes, and similar accessories that don’t directly interface with a firearm.
According to Reddit, links to licensed vendors and general discussion or reviews of products remain permitted. But peer-to-peer trades, even for simple parts like scopes or rails, are now off-limits.
For many longtime users, it’s the end of an era — and another blow to the once-thriving online gun marketplace.

Reddit is just another commie piece of trash. Don’t subscribe to them over priced bastards anyway.
Of course it just another way to push an anti-American second amendment hatred. The left continues to try and establish their agenda. For the left our constitution is nothing but an obstacle to total takeover. Now that the Muslim has made their agenda public and it’s to replace our government with theirs Reddit has chosen to side with the Muslim. Reddit intense to do their part to assist by making it harder for Americans to arm themselves. Make no mistake Reddit has chosen and it’s not you. Arm yourself, exercise your constitutional rights, don’t go quietly. Stay within the law, don’t give the left any power over you by breaking the law. Don’t give the government an excuse to take away your rights.
A simply boycott will fix this.Money will always win out. If they lose more revenue than the bribes they took to do this, they will relent. Either ban all transactions or none.

I’ll never understand this mentality. Doing this pushes the demand, which bans don’t effect, underground where monitoring is inherently more difficult. Wouldn’t it be better, in the governments eyes, to have open sales instead of back room exchanges? This won’t stop the sales… they’ll always find a way!

Never ever used Reddit or any other social media platform. I get that it’s a place for individual to individual sales, but there are so many other resources available. This is no loss to gun owners.
