Pulsar is rolling out the third generation of its Thermion thermal riflescope, bringing longer-range laser measurement, upgraded sensors and more field-friendly controls to the familiar scope-shaped platform.

The new Thermion 3 LRF will be offered in two configurations: the high-resolution XT60 and the longer-range XR60. Both retain the conventional profile and 30mm mounting tube that have helped distinguish the Thermion series from bulkier thermal optics.

The Pulsar Thermion 3 LRF combines thermal imaging with an integrated laser rangefinder and traditional riflescope controls.

Longer Rangefinding and Better Imaging

One of the biggest upgrades is the integrated laser rangefinder. Pulsar says it can now measure targets out to 1,312 yards, up from roughly 875 yards in the previous generation. The rangefinder remains tucked into the objective housing rather than hanging off the side as a separate attachment.

The two models take different approaches to thermal performance:

  • The Thermion 3 LRF XT60 uses a 1280×1024 HD thermal sensor, 2–24× magnification and a wide 14.6-degree field of view. Pulsar positions it as the flagship option for hunters who want maximum detail and broader situational awareness.
  • The Thermion 3 LRF XR60 uses a next-generation 640×480 sensor and offers 4–40× magnification. Its 4× base magnification makes it better suited to open country and longer-distance observation.

Both models use a 60mm F1.0 objective lens and a 2560×2560 AMOLED display. Pulsar also enlarged the viewing screen to provide greater eye relief and help reduce eye strain during extended use.

Still Feels Like a Traditional Scope

Despite the technology packed inside, the Thermion 3 maintains a layout that should feel familiar to anyone accustomed to a conventional riflescope.

Zoom and focus rings remain part of the design, with a throw lever added for quicker magnification changes. A top-mounted focusing wheel replaces the kind of side-mounted control commonly found on other thermal optics.

The standard 30mm tube means users can mount the scope with compatible conventional rings rather than relying on a specialized mounting system.

Recording, Ballistics and Field Features

The Thermion 3 includes recoil-activated video recording and 128GB of internal storage, allowing hunters to capture footage without adding a separate recorder.

Stream Vision 2 connectivity lets users manage recorded footage and device settings through a smartphone or tablet. The scope also works with Stream Vision Ballistics and includes an integrated ballistic calculator for distance-informed shooting solutions.

Additional upgrades include longer battery life and a user-replaceable battery for extended time in the field.

The electronics are housed inside an IP67-rated aluminum-alloy body designed to resist dust and temporary immersion under the rating’s specified conditions. Pulsar says the Thermion 3 is manufactured in Europe and covered by a five-year warranty.

Familiar Platform, Meaningful Upgrades

Pulsar is marketing the new generation under the tagline “Perfected,” and the changes appear focused more on refining the existing Thermion formula than reinventing it.

The longer-range LRF, improved sensors, larger display and revised controls address practical concerns without abandoning the conventional form factor that made the Thermion platform popular.

Pulsar is also supporting the launch with a documentary following a professional hunter who supplies wild game to Michelin-starred restaurants.

The Thermion 3 LRF XR60 and XT60 will be available through Pulsar’s authorized dealer network. The announcement did not include pricing or a firm retail date. Additional product information and dealer locations can be found at PulsarNV.com.
