Students Demand Action, the youth wing of Everytown for Gun Safety, is organizing a nationwide school walkout on Friday at noon.
The campaign is framed as a call for Congress and state legislatures to ban “assault weapons” and so-called “high-capacity magazines.”
The timing isn’t accidental. The push comes in the wake of the Annunciation Church School tragedy in Minneapolis, where two children were killed and 21 wounded on the first week of school.
Organizers and activists contend the only solution is to outlaw Modern Sporting Rifles (MSRs) and magazines that hold more than ten rounds.

The Student Argument
Students and survivors, like Timberlyn Mazeikis of Minnesota, argue that gun violence is a “national crisis.”
Mazeikis said she and her peers will walk out because “until we get these weapons of war off our streets, gun violence will continue to wreak havoc in our schools, homes, and communities.”
The Political Push
Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz has seized on the tragedy to call a special legislative session. Walz, once praised by Everytown as “Gun Sense Lawmaker of the Year,” now openly says there are “too many of the wrong types of guns in legal possession.”
His allies, including Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey, want bans not only at the state level but also the authority for local governments to write their own restrictions.
What Walz hasn’t addressed? Security for private schools.

As NSSF’s Mark Oliva recently wrote, Walz twice ignored pleas from Catholic bishops for school safety funding.
“The only debate, in Gov. Walz’s estimation, is how much freedom he can take away from those who obey the law in the name of ‘safety,’” Oliva argued.
Oliva points out that the Annunciation murderer used not just an MSR but also a shotgun and a handgun.
He also noted that Minnesota’s new “red flag” law—signed by Walz—failed to stop the killer, raising questions about whether more gun laws do anything to prevent mass violence.
A False Choice
Walz and Everytown are presenting a false binary: surrender constitutional rights or surrender the safety of children.
In reality, there are other options — from school security investments to mental health interventions — that gun control activists downplay.
A Question for Parents
Here’s the challenge for pro-gun families: when these walkouts hit your child’s school, how should your kids respond?
- Join in to avoid standing out?
- Stay in class as a quiet act of defiance?
- Offer a counter-message that defends the Second Amendment while honoring victims?
The gun control lobby understands the optics: classrooms emptied by students chanting for bans make powerful headlines.
For parents who believe in the right to keep and bear arms, the question is urgent: what’s the best way to help your kids navigate this pressure while standing firm in their values?
*** Buy and Sell on GunsAmerica! ***

It would appear that the “Every Town” student faction is OK with violence, as long as it’s NOT “gun violence”.
Children are young and immature, so they’re easily influenced.
Campuses should be the safest places, and only by effectively controlling assault weapons can children study with peace of mind. It is hoped that this movement will promote the progress and improvement of relevant policies.
Playground deaths kill more than school and church shootings do. In the last twenty five years there have been seven shootings. Were these shootings predictable, probably not. As most administrative school budgets are generally blouted, one would think they could find room for two armed resource officers. Maybe if they thought of this as a vaccination they might pursue it.
Those anti-gun folks don’t seem to really want to stop school shootings. They won’t lift a finger to actually secure the school grounds and buildings. Do they figure that the more slaughter that occurs brings the nation closer to really strict gun confiscation like Australia and New Zealand and others? When you look at the leaders of the anti-gun “movement,” they do appear to be the kinds of people who would stoop that low.
A lot of kids will join in just so they can get out of school. And the organizers know this.
Agreed. If they had an anti-gun rally on a Saturday morning, it would be pretty empty
And they will not be punished or even admonished. Their teachers will applaud them. And any properly raised kids that interfere will be punished to the fullest extent and be branded “juvenile terrorists”, and brainwashed “right wing victims” of their parents. There is only one way to stop this crap, and that is to overhaul our teaching system and eliminate ideaistic indoctrination of our kids!!!!!!!!!!!!! AND we KNOW that just ain’t gonna happen because the libtard parents are just as bad
The parents should tell their children to stay in their seats and record teachers on their phone. Kids are sent to school to be educated not be pawns by extension for a mob of hormonal irrational zealots who no one would notice unless they had a pile of children wrapped around them
these IGNORANT people do not even know what an Assault weapon is, in fact they are not allowed to be owned without a special permit because they they fall under the FULLY AUTO category, the Military M16 was able to switch from Semi to Full auto the UZI is the same category there are no Assault Legally walking the streets in the USA. the AR 15 is NOT an Assault Weapon and neither are 99.9 % of the weapons in the hands of US Citizens. a Stick can be an assault weapon if I were to Assault “HIT” someone with it just like a Rock or a car. my fists are assault weapons when I hit someone.
Suspend every last student – school is for education not for ill advised protests!
Not gonna happen. They will be rewarded. Will the patriots in the conmmunity picket the scholls? NO. Why? They are affraid to. WHY? because THEY will be arrested for it! WHY? Because THEY will abide by the so-called law and not fight back. Even though the first , and second amendments apply.Wewill lose because WE will not defend our rights, while the socialist left breaks every rule there is and suffers no reprisal.. Why should they stop?
Kids are subject to peer pressure, and ‘just going along’ with their friends. Many probably don’t even really understand what they are walking for. It’s a useless endeavor that will be forgotten on Saturday.
Don’t stay home. That still leaves the classroom empty. Show up and support your student rights to education as well as right to bear arms. My 11 year old uses an AR for deer hunting. My 15 year old loves to shoot handguns and skeet. My 21 year old just wants to shoot at the range whenever possible. Teach them respect for the tools and the correct way to use them. No different than a hammer or chainsaw.
would be interesting to counter protest and have the kids show up with ar tshirts and hats…….
Stay home then, the gun is not the problem and they should be taught that in school, mental health is the issue so stop blaming a object, But by all means stay home. Teach real history and students will learn that a unarmed citizen by the government is a DEAD citizen,
An Unarmed person is not a Citizen but a SUBJECT.
The thing is, you cannot legislate against mental illness. The OTHER THING is, Only the LAW!-ABIDING Citizens obey Laws. Criminals and mental defectives don’t obey ANY laws! It is the TRIGGER finger connected to the brain that pulls the trigger. No pistol, revolver, rifle, or shotgun will just jump up and shoot people without that deranged mind controlling the finger that controls the weapon.
Of six Grandkids, only two are in the government indoctrination camps. And God Bless them, those two aren’t buying in. Their parents have taught to them to think critically.
Let’s outlaw cars and trucks, they kill more people than anything else. Those who trade liberty for safety have neither. Think about this, there has never been a firearm of any type that killed anyone. A firearm does not have a brain, no arms or legs, it’s just an object. It takes a person to kill someone regardless of what type of object is used as the killer. It could be a golf club, a bat, or even their bare hands.
Keep them home that day
If they really want to get attention they should show up for school on time, clean, properly dressed, homework done, no drugs on or in them, with a smile on their faces and love in their hearts. But yeah, skipping school to protest an issue that few if any of them understand is more fun.
Don’t be foolish enough to think the kiddies thought this up and organized it themselves.
has anyone ever heard of a mass shooting at a gun show? I wonder why not if guns are truly the problem.
if they really cared about the children they would try all methods to stop this not just push for a pipe dream!
