An alleged burglar’s plan to walk away with a new TV ended with a trip to the hospital instead.
According to Fox 13 Memphis, a homeowner returned to his apartment Wednesday and found a man inside allegedly trying to remove a television from the wall. What happened next turned the burglary into a defensive gun use.
Police say the incident unfolded at the Greenbrook Apartments on Quail Brook Cove in northeast Memphis.
Investigators said the homeowner confronted the suspect after discovering him inside the apartment. According to police, the homeowner then reached into a bag, pulled out a handgun, and fired at the alleged intruder.
The suspect fled despite being wounded, triggering a massive search involving Memphis police officers, a helicopter, and even members of the Tennessee National Guard.
Fox 13 captured video of helicopters circling overhead while officers searched through nearby neighborhoods.

The man was eventually located near Mon Road and rushed to Regional One Hospital, where police said he was listed in critical condition.
Investigators also recovered additional property from the suspect, although they have not said exactly what those items were.
Neighbors watched the search unfold from outside their homes.
“I’ve been helping them open the gates and stuff,” one resident told Fox 13. “And letting them search my yard and the neighbors’ yards.”
As of the latest update, Memphis police had not released the suspect’s identity or announced what charges he may face.

There SHOULD BE laws in place that FORBIDS the families/survivors of these scumbags from being able to sue someone civilly who dispatches their vermin kinfolk who commit crimes. Additionally, there should be more PROTECTION (especially in “blue” jurisdictions AGAINST charging criminally citizens who are forced to use firearms in self-defense against criminals in muggings, car jackings, robberies or burglaries/home invasions. Self-defense of life AND property should be a fundamental right that we as free people have. The reason that criminals oftentimes are so emboldened is because they know that many law-abiding citizens fear being punished as well if they push back against criminal scum. Free citizens should not FEAR this happening. If someone chooses to steal from me or attacks me, THEY should be the ones in FEAR…Fearing that they can easily lose their life for being a miscreant.
good for the apartment dweller. it’s time law-abiding stand up for themselves from the thugs that do this and lots of times a whole lot worse, when it comes to our women folk that is. i’m glad i live in a state who has our laws so we can protect ourselves, family or anyone that may need help from the slime of the earth that do nothing but rob, rape, steal and kill. i pray for the law-abiding person who did the right thing to protect themselves from trash like this guy, because you see those like this POS will never change their ways an will go on to most likely do a whole lot worse things. maybe they’ll get the NEWS FLASH not everyone is going to be an easy target. you never know who or who isn’t armed to protect themselves and others. oh, sure these thugs lots of times say “i’m sorry for what i did”, no, you’re sorry you got caught or better yet shot for yer crimes you do. sorry, a word from trash like this that means nothing.

I do wonder if they will go after him considering there is no mention of the perp attacking him. Maybe he should back his story up a little bit and mention that! Not sure what the laws are like down south but I hope they’re more lax than they are up here in the north when it comes to situations like this. I guess it mostly depends on what kind of a DA was voted into office.
