KelTec PR-3AT: The Mag-less Stripper — SHOT Show 2026

Estimated reading time: 4 minutes

The KelTec PR-3AT is a magazine-less .380 carry pistol that uses stripper clips and a rotating barrel to stay thin, light, and simple. Instead of a detachable magazine, it loads from the top directly into the grip.

Not a bad carry solution from KelTec.

That design choice sets it apart in a crowded micro-compact market. KelTec says the goal was a lighter, slimmer concealed carry pistol with fewer parts to manage under stress.

Magazine-Less Design and Loading

The PR-3AT feeds internally, eliminating the need for a traditional magazine. Rounds load one at a time or via 7-round stripper clips. Two clips can quickly fill the grip. Depending on configuration, capacity sits at 10+1 or 13+1 with an extended baseplate.

By removing the need for a bulky magazine, the frame stays narrow at just under one inch wide. That slim profile should help with concealment, especially for inside-the-waistband carry.

The KelTec PR-3AT features a slim grip, and no removable magazine.

Weight, Size, and Carry Focus

KelTec built the PR-3AT with weight savings in mind. It weighs 9.66 ounces unloaded and 14.24 ounces loaded. That puts it lighter than many competing .380 pistols with similar capacity. Overall length measures 5.58 inches with a 2.85-inch barrel.

The compact dimensions and low weight aim to reduce carry fatigue. It’s designed to disappear under light clothing without demanding a heavy belt or large holster.

Operating System and Controls

The PR-3AT uses a rotating barrel system similar to KelTec’s earlier PR57. The trigger pull is rated at 4.5 pounds. The simplified layout limits external controls and moving parts. KelTec says this approach helps reduce user error when fine motor skills drop under stress.

There’s no magazine release to hunt for. Reloading focuses on topping off or clip loading rather than swapping mags.

Models, Optics, and Pricing

The standard PR-3AT is available now with an MSRP of $399. KelTec also offers the PR-3AT Defender, which adds an optics-ready slide with an installed optic, belt clip, and included holster. That package runs $590.

Color options include black, green, and tan across standard, Defender, and 10-round variants. KelTec says additional optics plate patterns are planned for future releases.

The Defender model comes with a factory-installed Viridian RFX1 Green Dot, a belt clip, four 7-round stripper clips, and a Rounded Gear IWB.

Specs at a Glance

Chambered in .380 Auto, the PR-3AT measures 0.944 inches wide and 4.38 inches tall. Twist rate is 1:10, and unloaded weight stays under 10 ounces. It’s a compact, unconventional option aimed at shooters who want mix it up with something non-traditional.
