Instagram Flex Turns Into Federal Gun Case

This one almost sounds fake. But it’s not.

According to a breakdown from Colion Noir, a man in Alabama is now facing federal gun charges after posting a video to Instagram during a Mardi Gras event and unknowingly handing the feds everything they needed.

The setup? A deadly shooting during Joe Cain Day festivities in Mobile.

Instead of laying low, one guy decided to jump on Instagram and mock the victim, literally acting out how the man died, per FOX 10 News.

Bad enough. But here’s where it gets worse. Federal agents reviewing the video noticed something on the pistol in his waistband: A Glock switch. Game over.

For anyone unfamiliar, a Glock switch (also called an auto sear) converts a semi-auto pistol into a fully automatic weapon, which makes it a machine gun under federal law.

And that’s not a gray area. Possessing one without proper registration is already a federal felony under the National Firearms Act.

No new law needed; no loophole; no debate. Just illegal.

According to the federal complaint, the case didn’t come from some new enforcement push or expanded gun control effort. It came from the video. The guy posted it himself.

As Noir puts it, this wasn’t law enforcement catching a criminal through policy. It was someone essentially building a case against himself in real time.

And that’s the bigger point. Stories like this tend to spark calls for more gun control. But in this case, the key piece (the illegal modification) was already banned. Already enforced. Already a felony. The system didn’t fail here.

If anything, it worked exactly as designed. The only reason this situation turned into a federal case? The suspect made sure everyone could see it. Which brings it back to a pretty simple takeaway:

  • It wasn’t a background check,
  • It wasn’t a registry,
  • It wasn’t a new law,
  • It was Instagram.

And sometimes, that’s all it takes.

Disagree with the law if you want, but there’s a legislative and legal means to change things. Yes, it is slow, but it is the right way. I personally do not agree with the full auto ban or with the now tax-free registration of SBRs, SBSs and silencers. However, it is important to abide by the law and then work to change it. You need to be exemplary in your adherence to the law before you can fight to change it. The man with the Glock with the switch failed in this respect . And this was deliberate on his part. He gives law abiding gun owners a bad name. And he deserves to be prosecuted under current regulations while we work to get unconstitutional bans overturned through the courts and legislatures.

I guess you like so many other do not understand the intent of the Bill of Rights. Especially the 2nd Amendment it does not confer rights, it was meant to protect our rights from the government. All laws that violate any of our inherent rights are null and void.

        why?

Because it is uncontrollable. Bystander deaths are much more likely with switches on a pistol. The fire rate makes them useless. Controlled accurate fire is better than dumping a magazine in under a second. It is a totally unnecessary and irresponsible accessory.

so the possibility of bystander deaths dictates that one must stand there and become a target…..

Sot placement is more critical than doing a mag dump.
