Every time something bad happens, the script gets dusted off.
“Common sense gun control.”
It sounds good. Feels good. Polls well. But when you actually press on it, ask for specifics, it starts to fall apart real fast. A recent breakdown by Colion Noir took a closer look at that argument and started asking the questions nobody seems willing to answer.
Case in point: the latest viral push from Hope Walz, daughter of Minnesota’s Tim Walz, jumping on TikTok to explain how gun control is basically the line between civilized people and savages.
That’s a bold claim. And to be fair, she did say something worth agreeing with: political violence is never okay. That should be the baseline. No debate there.
But then comes the leap. The idea that more gun laws would’ve somehow stopped the violence we’ve already seen play out.
That’s where things get shaky.
Take the Minnesota church shooting she’s pointing to. The shooter? Bought his guns legally. Passed background checks. No criminal history. No red flags. Nothing that would’ve tripped any of the “common sense” laws we keep hearing about.
So here’s the obvious question nobody wants to answer: Which law stops that guy?
Universal background checks? Already passed.
Red flag laws? Nothing to flag.
Assault weapons ban? He brought multiple guns.

That’s the part that keeps getting skipped. Instead, we get the phrase: “common sense.”
But what does that even mean anymore? 10-round mags? 15? 7? Semi-autos? Just rifles? Handguns too. The goalposts don’t just move, they sprint.
What was “common sense” five years ago isn’t enough today. And what’s being pushed today won’t be enough tomorrow. That’s not a fixed policy, that’s a moving target. And when you zoom out, there’s a bigger pattern.
Every major incident people point to either involves:
- Legal gun ownership
- Or someone already prohibited who got a gun anyway
Which leads to the uncomfortable truth: laws aimed at compliant people don’t stop non-compliant ones.
Criminals don’t follow gun laws. That’s not a slogan, it’s reality. And yet, the solution always circles back to restricting the same people who weren’t the problem in the first place. That’s where the debate gets real.
Because underneath all the buzzwords, the argument starts to sound less like “safety” and more like control: who should have access, and who shouldn’t.
So let’s keep it simple. If “common sense gun control” is the answer Hope Walz… then what’s the exact policy? Not the slogan. Not the vibe. The actual law.
Which one stops the next attacker who:
- passes a background check
- has no record
- and decides to act anyway
As Noir correctly asserts, that’s the question that never gets answered. And until it does, we’re just running the same play over and over again.

FORGET GUN CONTROL!!! HOW ABOUT THE REAL ISSUE?!?! WHAT ABOUT INSANITY CONTROL?!?!? MEDS, INSTITUTIONS CONTROL FOR THESE PEOPLE!?!?!?
Hey Hope… did you know the age group that commits the most mass shootings according to the Rockefeller Institute of government… that age group is 20 to 29. So that puts them in the same generation you are in. So rather than running your mouth about things you have absolutely no clue about or what’s going on in life, why don’t you do some research on why your age group is such a bunch of pussies that can’t handle the regular stresses and strains of daily life like the rest of America seems to be adapting to quite nicely?
I know daddy describes your job as being a social worker but you work in a homeless shelter… Not the same thing. And your father is proud that you “found“ a job in a homeless shelter… Like there’s a fecking line for employment there? And your “other“ job is a ski instructor… Yeah Hope you are living the life of reality, lol. Thank God for mommy and daddy’s money sweetheart or you wouldn’t just be working in a homeless shelter, you would be living there!
Now shut your pie hole, get a real job, and take a run around the block and lose some weight!
LOL. Savage!
She should explain common sense Fraud control to her daddy instead of babbling about guns.
Political violence? Why is that special? It’s just simply violence, murder etc.
People become violent, people kill, as do all other animals. Nature is nature. As statistics clearly show that more people are killed by blunt objects, clubs, hammers and other things than ALL rifles combined. It’s not the weapon but the emotions and the brain that controls them.
We need common sense liberal control. Long pier, short rope.
For more than 40 years now, I have been asking a very simple question: Where, in the wording of The Second Amendment, is there any provision for, or even the suggestion of, restrictions, limitations, or exceptions? Answer: There is none. What that means is that every one of the more than 24,000 gun control laws currently on the books in this nation at the federal, state, and local levels is, in a word, unconstitutional, Court decisions to the contrary notwithstanding.
Too many people have a simple and basic misunderstanding about “gun control.” “Gun control” is not now, and has never been, about crime, criminals, or public safety. Quite frankly, the Left couldn’t give a rat’s behind about crime, criminals, or public safety. Gun control is, and has always been, about disarming the citizenry so they cannot represent a threat to the government once the Left establishes the dictatorship they have been working toward since the end of World War 2. The key word in the term “gun control” is not “gun” – it is “control.”
A quick study of basic world history will show that one of the first actions taken by every Communist government upon their takeover was to go to all of the local police stations, get the lists of gun owners, and then go door to door and disarm everyone. That is why the Communists – er, I mean the Democrats – want a national gun registry. Is there really anyone at this point in time who still does not understand this?
And finally, it is way beyond disingenuous that the Left always speaks of “we need gun control” as if there were currently no laws concerning firearms. Those more than 24,000 gun control laws I mentioned earlier involve and cover every conceivable aspect of firearm purchase, ownership, and use dozens of times over. Firearms are by far the single most regulated and restricted consumer product in this nation. The only ones who are impacted by all these laws, however, are the law-abiding, which of course is the goal. Criminals very rarely (check the FBI data on this) even attempt to obtain firearms through legal channels, and are thus unaffected by “gun control.” As I stated above, “gun control” has nothing to do with crime or criminals.
She might be more stupid than her dad. Hard to say.
It is very clear that high IQ’s do not run in that family.
“…political violence is never ok, dah, that’s the difference between us and them” -Hope Walz
I’m old enough to remember the common lefty celebrating the murder of Charlie Kirk over and over again. Hope Walz owes US a retraction and apology for spread false information.
but daddy has guns! we got video’s of that, and well they should be used to red flag him. Only common sense gun law should be: leave gun owners be!
