The Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms (CCRKBA) is urging U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi to put her newly-formed Second Amendment Task Force to work—immediately.

In a letter sent directly to AG Bondi, CCRKBA Chairman Alan Gottlieb called for the DOJ to zero in on a dozen Democrat-controlled states that have turned the Second Amendment into a government-regulated privilege instead of the individual right it is.

“The time has come to put the anti-rights leadership in these states on notice that their crusade to destroy the individual rights protected by the Second Amendment is finished,” Gottlieb wrote.

Twelve States on Notice

The letter specifically named California, Colorado, Connecticut, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, Oregon, and Washington.

These states have enacted a long list of restrictive measures: permit-to-purchase laws, expansive “gun-free zones,” training and testing requirements, magazine bans, and outright prohibitions on common firearms.

Gottlieb didn’t mince words.

“Such impediments as requiring permits to purchase in order to exercise a fundamental right, creating large areas where the legal carrying of firearms is prohibited, mandatory training and testing—which is tantamount to a literacy test—are deliberate impairments created to discourage citizens from exercising their rights,” he said.

After Bruen, the Crackdown Should Begin

Since the U.S. Supreme Court’s 2022 Bruen decision, states have scrambled to pass workaround laws aimed at undermining the ruling’s clear standard.

According to CCRKBA, that’s not just disingenuous—it’s illegal.

“In the aftermath of the Bruen ruling, radical gun prohibitionists have only doubled down in their culture war against law-abiding gun owners and the Second Amendment,” Gottlieb noted. “Their efforts amount to deprivation of rights under color of law, and this scenario cannot be allowed to continue.”

Help Is Standing By

CCRKBA has offered its full support to the Task Force and is ready to provide assistance in identifying the worst offenders and building legal challenges.

“We have offered to provide any input or assistance Attorney General Bondi and the Second Amendment Task Force may need,” Gottlieb said.
