The Dept. of Justice announced this week the formation of “firearms trafficking strike forces” to help combat violent crime in major U.S. cities.

The SFX9 is a subcompact version with a 3.25-inch barrel and short frame with a 10+1-round capacity in 9mm Luger, or 15+1 with an extended magazine.

In a widely anticipated move, the U.S. 9th Circuit Court of Appeals blocked California judge Robert Benitez’s ruling that overturned the state’s “assault weapon” ban and called the law a “failed experiment.”

Mark and Patricia McCloskey surprised observers last week when the couple pled guilty to two misdemeanor charges. Two days later the McCloskeys posted on Twitter images of themselves purchasing an AR-15 similar to the one Mark used in the incident.

“I’m introducing this legislation to #EliminateTheATF to protect ALL gun owners across this country from a tyrannical, power hungry group of bureaucrats who’s [sic] goal is to destroy our Second Amendment rights,” she said on Twitter.

The launch will will include six new cartridge families developed by Sako, including TRG Precision, Powerhead Blade, Gamehead Pro, Gamehead, Speedhead and Super Hammerhead lines of ammunition.

The 856 Defender isn’t a perfect revolver, but like many Taurus products, it lives in a nice middle ground between bargain bin and custom Gucci.
