This past week we ran a extremely popular SHOT article on the new AR pistol from MGI chambered in the 7.62×39 cartridge, which we generally think of as exclusive to the AK-47 and SKS class of rifles. Many people noted in the comments out there that there are other options for ARs that take AK mags, and it so happens that we put the https://rockriverarms.com/lar47″>Rock River LAR-47 through its paces some time ago. Since the gun is available for sale right now, this week is a good time to run it.

How to Butcher a Wild Hog – Photo Essay
Published: January 31, 2015 { 109 comments }With so many first time gun owners out there are bound to be a whole bunch of first time hunters as well. Wild hogs are available to hunt year round, and because they have a short gestation cycle, there are almost no bounds to their numbers. Corn feeders can bring wild hogs in to a specific location at fairly reliable regular times, and the wild-caught meat is not gamy at all. Most would agree that especially corn fed wild hog is much better than feedlot commercial pork. This is a photo essay on how to butcher your own wild hog.

Prepping 101: The Biggest Scam in the History of Mankind
Published: January 30, 2015 { 72 comments }After “winning” the midterm election in November, I think a lot of people who were about to take the leap into preparing for any kind of imminent collapse got lazy. I just took a trip to the Northeast US, and couldn’t believe how asleep the general population is up there to what is going on in the world around them. At Logon Airport, Boston, I encountered one of their State Troopers, who you would swear was intentionally dressed in a costume of a Nazi SS trooper, and who was sporting, right there in the airport, a front slung suppressed MP5 with a double pancake mag in it. His hand was on the grip and his finger was across the trigger guard. Yet nobody but me seemed to be bothered by such a thing.

Precision Formed Custom Holsters from Multi-Holsters
Published: January 29, 2015 { 8 comments }I don’t pull any punches with holster makers. It is incredibly easy to heat up some Kydex and bend it around a gun. It is much more difficult to make bent Kydex into a functional holster that you’d trust your life to. It isn’t a half-assed skill. And those of you reading this might be surprised by how many times we’re approached by aspiring holster makers who want to showcase their skills. Let’s just be clear on this point–I turn at least half of them away becasue they’re not ready. And when I need a holster, I go to Multi Holsters first.
