Best IWI Guns (2026): Tavor X95, Galil ACE, Masada & More

in GA Guides, Handguns, Rifles

The best IWI guns bring Israeli military designs to American shooters, from the Tavor bullpup and Galil ACE to the Jericho, Masada and UZI. IWI, Israel Weapon Industries, grew out of Israel Military Industries, and its US arm builds and imports guns for the civilian market.

Our reviewers at GunsAmerica Digest have tested these guns on the range. One shot a Galil ACE in .308 into about 1 to 1.25 inches at 100 yards and hit 12 inch steel at 500 yards. Another ran over 500 rounds through an UZI Pro with no malfunctions. Another found the Tavor 7 tamer to shoot than he expected from a .308 bullpup.

Most of our hands on IWI reviews were written between 2016 and 2022, so check current models and pricing before you buy. Newer guns such as the ARAD 5 have only been covered as news so far. For other brands, see our best bullpups and best AK-47 rifles.

Start with the buyer’s guide, then jump to the picks. Prices are what our reviewers reported at the time of testing.

Buyer’s Guide: How To Choose The Best IWI Guns In 2026

IWI makes bullpups, AK pattern rifles, an AR-15 and several pistols, so start with the job you need the gun to do.

Bullpup Or Conventional Rifle

A bullpup like the Tavor puts the action behind the trigger, so you get a full length barrel in a short rifle. Our X95 reviewer said recoil is tame and muzzle climb is non existent. The tradeoff is a different manual of arms and a trigger that usually is not as crisp as a good AR trigger. If you want a conventional layout, look at the Galil ACE or Zion-15. For more bullpups from every brand, see our best bullpups guide.

Caliber

IWI rifles come in 5.56, 7.62Γ—39 and .308. The Tavor X95 and Zion-15 are 5.56. The Galil ACE comes in 7.62Γ—39 and .308, and the Tavor 7 is .308. Our Tavor 7 reviewer found the rifle would not run cheap steel cased Tula .308 at all, so test your ammo.

IWI Pistols

The Masada is a polymer striker fired 9mm, and the Jericho 941 is a steel framed double action and single action pistol based on the CZ 75. The UZI Pro is a compact 9mm pistol. For more carry and home defense options, see our best 9mm pistols.

The Tavor TS12 Shotgun

We also reviewed the IWI Tavor TS12 bullpup shotgun, which holds 15 rounds of 2 3/4 inch shells across three rotating tubes. Our reviewer liked the capacity and recoil system, but he still had failures about 1 in 10 to 1 in 15 rounds after break in, even with ammo above IWI’s recommended 1,200 fps and 1 1/8 ounce minimum. That is why it is not a pick here.

Recalls And Discontinued Models

In 2015, IWI US recalled Galil ACE GAP39 pistols with a 3 pin fire control group, offering a refund or a 2 pin replacement. If you buy a used 2015 era Galil ACE pistol, confirm it is a 2 pin gun. IWI US also discontinued the original Tavor SAR in 2017; our Tavor IDF review covers that earlier model.

New IWI Guns

IWI US moved to Tennessee and is bringing the ARAD 5 to the U.S., a short stroke piston rifle with an MSRP of $1,499.99 at the time of the report (2026). We also covered the IWI Carmel rifle at NRA 2023. These are news reports, not hands on reviews, so they are not picks yet.

It weighs a full 9 pounds and has no iron sights. His best five shot group at 100 yards was 3 inches with Winchester Silvertip 168 grain, and four of six loads made sub 1.5 inch three shot groups. At 50 yards he landed 7 of 10 rounds on a 10 inch gong and 10 of 10 on a full size IPSC target. After practice he averaged 6.5 seconds on the 10-10-10 drill in single action.
