At SHOT Show 2025, Outlier, a sister company of Arken Optics, showcased their innovative OPS (Outlier Precision System).
Jake from Outlier detailed the design and philosophy behind the new platform, highlighting its emphasis on affordability and functionality.

The OPS was developed with a target price point of around $2,000, which includes the rifle, suppressor, and scope.
To achieve this, Outlier employs a direct-to-consumer model and leans on commonly sourced materials and streamlined manufacturing techniques.

A standout feature is the integration of the proprietary Backdraft Berrel suppressor system.
This design employs the dead space between the carbon fiber barrel sleeve and barrel liner to add volume to the blast chamber, enabling significant sound reduction with a shorter suppressor.
Additionally, this increased volume allows for a simpler baffle design, reducing cost.
The rifle itself draws inspiration from the iconic Remington 700 platform while incorporating a modern take on modularity.
The receiver features a full-diameter bolt body, a floating bolt head, and compatibility with M16 extractors.

Outlier also focused on multifunctionality and machinability. The system utilizes a dual-purpose Picatinny rail that serves as a guide for the bolt lugs, reducing complexity.

The barrel extension is integrated into the design, allowing for consistent performance and barrel attachment using a three-screw system.

With a weight of approximately 10 pounds, 7 ounces (including the suppressor and scope), the OPS should strike a balance between portability and performance.
While final decisions are still pending, Outlier aims to offer the system as a bundle with an optic and suppressor for around $2,000.
Rifles in .308 and 6.5 Creedmore should be available this June with magnum calibers to follow. Be sure to keep an eye on the Outlier website for when they drop. I know I will.
