The Model 1873 Sporter Octagon features a full 24in octagon barrel matched to a color case hardened receiver and Grade II/III walnut stock. The Sporter configuration is fitted with a 13-round tubular magazine and measures 43in overall with a nominal weight of 7.5 lb. The design retains traditional 1873 operating characteristics with an exposed hammer and half-cock position (the rifle does not employ a separate manual safety).
