Australian TV got a heavy dose of American gun culture in 2013 when 60 Minutes Australia sat down with rocker Ted Nugent and other pro-2A advocates.
What the producers hoped would be a gun-control sob story turned into a lesson on freedom, self-defense, and why millions of Americans will never surrender their firearms.
The program opened with emotional numbers — “6,000 people killed by guns since Sandy Hook” — designed to frame America as a nation drowning in gun violence.
Nugent wasn’t having it. From his Texas porch, he tore into the narrative with trademark fire: “Where innocent people are forced into unarmed helplessness, they are slaughtered. Where people have the right to bear arms, they survive and evil loses.”
When pressed on why he “needed” so-called assault rifles, Nugent flipped the script.

“Do you have more than one TV? How dare you? Quit with the need crap. I refuse to answer your question that you think you might know what I might need,” he exclaimed.
That exchange summed up the divide — Australians looked for justification, Americans like Nugent reminded them rights don’t require excuses.
The show also spotlighted everyday Americans, from suburban moms training with pistols to children learning firearm safety under Marine veteran instructors.
Viewers in Sydney may have been “mortified” at kids handling .22s, but here it looked like responsible parenting. Teaching gun handling early is about respect and safety — not fear.
And it isn’t just families. Women are now the fastest-growing segment of gun owners in America, with more than 30 million armed and often choosing firearms that fit their style.
As one instructor put it, “A gun is a tool if you practice it — and it’s your choice to carry it.”
The segment even visited Kennesaw, Georgia — the town where local law requires households to own a firearm. Predictably, crime there sits at rock-bottom.
Locals chalk it up to deterrence: when everyone’s armed, criminals think twice.
Throughout, Nugent delivered classic Nuge: no compromise, no apologies. He called out politicians protected by taxpayer-funded security who demand ordinary citizens go unarmed.
“How dare our employees tell the employers they get armed security at our expense, but we will be unarmed and helpless,” he said. “Kiss my ass.”
That’s Ted Nugent — blunt, brash, and unapologetically pro-2A. And while 60 Minutes Australia wanted to paint America’s gun culture as dangerous, what came across loud and clear was why millions cling proudly to their firearms. In a world that feels increasingly dangerous, they’d rather face evil armed than kneel helpless and disarmed.

Fear a government that fears your gun.
Worry about your country and the people in it.Twisting the narrative, speaking on Americans behalf. The shock and awe she exaggerates is disgusting. What she’s leaving out is the fact that murder in Australia still exists, but with a different tool.

I couldn’t believe how disgusted she looked when he mentioned the 2A is to protect your family and yourself. The shots of her at the range were laughable! One round and she craps her pants….give me a break! This report was just stupid!
We don’t have a gun problem we have a crime problem. If we weren’t so soft on crime and hard on legal gun owners, we would have less need to use them on criminals because law enforcement focused on the right person, the criminal and guns wouldn’t be used accept at the range.

He did great although I wish he had gutted her claims with the facts that disprove them. Maybe he did and they edited it out but it doesn’t seem like it was cut. Either way, Uncle Ted did great.
I bet the citizens of Israel wish they would have had a 2nd Amendment on Oct 7, 2023.

Without the means to effectively resist someone taking something of yours up to your life you are not in control of your life and are at the mercy of others. Gun ownership is the peak of independence. People that want to remove that ability want servants and to force you how they want you to live end of story.
We’ve never had a gun problem. What we do have is a SOFT on violent criminals problem. Just recently another man in Florida went to be executed 31 years or so after he brtually murdered someone. HOW LONG? How long did his victim get to plead for their life? Many on death row just live out life and die in prison before actually being executed.
Personally I’m glad to hear on the news anytime LEO actually kill these violent criminals, many whom have long criminal careers and get let out to commit more.
good job ted throw the crap back into her face!
