WATCH: ATF Director Doesn’t Know Difference Between Mags & Clips

in 2nd Amendment – R2KBA, Current Events, This Week

Estimated reading time: 2 minutes

Colion Noir this week blasted ATF Director Steven Dettelbach for his recent firearm flub on CBS’s “Face the Nation.”

Noir, a vocal Second Amendment defender, was flabbergasted by Dettelbach confusing a drum mag for a “clip.”

He quipped, “In 2024, how does the director of the bloody freaking ATF not know the difference between a magazine drum clip?”

This confusion was made more evident as, moments earlier, the acting chief of ATF’s Firearm Ammunition Technology Division correctly identified it as a 75-round drum magazine.

Highlighting the error as more than a slip-up, Noir emphasized it came from someone enforcing complex gun laws. He critiqued Dettelbach’s lack of basic firearms knowledge, saying it showed disrespect and political bias.

Noir likened the mistake to a CEO ignorant of their products or a cop botching Miranda Rights.

Throughout the segment, Noir maintained his usual blend of humor and sharp critique, highlighting the importance of knowledgeable leadership in positions of power, especially when it comes to matters as serious as firearm regulation.

Here’s the entire clip.

The 2nd Ammendment was not about what items you can have for hunting it was about a tyrannical gov trying to take our freedom, The atf is all about overreach nothing more

It’s to be expected. The regime is overrun with mindless, brainless bureaucrats and appointees. Even the people that they appoint to federal judgeships don’t know the law. Job-related knowledge is a little more than these two-legged earthworms are capable of having.

  • Phil March 11, 2024, 8:06 am

Neither do a lot of gun owners. Yes, technically speaking, magazine and clip have different definitions but choosing to be that nit-picky just goes to show you really have no argument to begin with. It’s like when someone asks you to hand them a Kleenex and all you see is a box of Puffs. Go find a real argument. They are there if you look a little harder. Now. Is a revolver a pistol?

    • Tenbones March 11, 2024, 9:05 am

Exactly! Who cares if someone calls them clips or mags. It’s just symantecs. We have more important things to worry about than get bent out of shape over such a petty issue. Although……calling a drum mag a clip is stretching it.

      • Kane March 12, 2024, 12:52 pm

The ATF wields the enormous power of “petty” semantics the agency is on a power grab with the most of the “free” press cheering every move. .

    • Kane March 12, 2024, 12:43 pm

When a regulatory agency goes beyond just enforcing existing laws and starts creating new elaborate criminal codes then there is a dangerous problem that has to be corrected. The ATF breaks international law and seals those records, reverses ATF “rulings” while declaring a “zero tolerance policy” based technical intrepretations and circumstaces without anyone in the agency be held accountable. It is vitale that the incompetance and hypocrosy should be highlighted at every point but instead there is a joint venture between legacy media and the deep state. The Kleenex/Puffs example is a very poor comparison and shows have no idea what is really at stake.

These people are so stupid!! They do not have a clue about guns. The moron trying to take one gun apart is clueless!! And the other moron is scared shit of them!!

  • Paul Single March 11, 2024, 7:29 am

Neither does Remington or Marlin. They sell spare “CLIPS” for their guns in the not so old days. You can do a quick search on eBay. It’s written in big letters “Spare Clip” right on the package.

He probably doesn’t know his ass from a hole in the ground either, wisdom passed on from my dad, thx dad.

  • Jim March 8, 2024, 1:11 pm

He sure as hell should know the difference. By the same standard, the writer, and all conservatives, should know the tremendous difference between “Democrat”, and democratic. Yet, conservatives continue to compliment these idiots by calling them “a democratic representative” (example).

We all need to understand that “democratic” is an adjective that describes the manner in which a group conducts it’s business, and it is generally a compliment. Calling someone “a democratic representative” compliments them unnecessarily. Everyone who hears it considers that person to be “democratic” when in fact, he/she may be Communist, Anarchist, Socialist, or anything but democratic. The idiot Adam Schiff is a Democrat, and he has shown repeatedly that he is NOT democratic.

Please STOP using the term “democratic” to describe Democrats.

What a “Gomer” that ATF director is!

  • Clint Wilde March 8, 2024, 11:05 am

Chiefs of Police, and heads of departments are there for only one reason…politics, and many times are there because of their support of certain politician and getting those jobs as payback. Everything that is wrong with the US right now, on all fronts, can be traced to ‘regulations’, created by bloated, office chair riding governement employees and their bosses that enact made up rules that carry the weight of law, without being properly proposed, discussed, and voted on by the people we elected, and the Constitution, which says the Legislative Branch is the only place laws come from, not a donut eating, 350lb GS11 Bertha Breadsacker who thought such and such would be a neat rule to make the country bend to.

  • Bob W March 8, 2024, 10:47 am

    Calm down dude😂😂😂

  • Tip Tover March 8, 2024, 8:46 am

Morons intent on confiscating guns, the dumber the better. Deep state standouts!

  • Mike March 8, 2024, 8:44 am

Remember that time Dan Quayle who had served in the military and was one heart beat away from the presidency held an RPG backwards? Wasn’t he Republican? Shouldn’t he know everything about weapons and weapon systems, asking for a friend.

    • Hondo March 8, 2024, 11:21 am

Are you new? There are morons in both parties, probably more on the democrat side though, but I’d bet you couldn’t admit that.

      • Jim March 8, 2024, 1:17 pm

Mike, not everyone in the military has ever held an RPG. In fact, maybe 1% of all military have held an RPG. However, the Hailing King and Director of the ATF sure as heck should know the diff between a clip and a magazine. On the other hand, it would not hurt any of us if his colleagues passed a law to not allow ownership of any clip holding more than 5 rounds. HAHAHA…no problem here…my mag holds 30 rounds, but it is not a clip.

    • Kane March 8, 2024, 11:37 pm

Since Gore, Cheney, Harris and the child molesting pervert in the WH now, Quayle no longer looks as bad as he once did.

Quayle served in the Indiana National Guard (very low pay) and could have had one of many MOS’s, so more than likely he was not an small arms expert. Obliviously, you do NOT know that the RPG is a Soviet designed Arm and of course most US troops would not be expected to deploy Soviet ordinance or remember all their training more than a quarter century later.

The director of the ATF should be a long serving member (salaries are well over $200,000 per year) who has over the years become an expert on Alchohol and tabacco regulations, explosive termanology /capabilities and extensive firearms training.

If you really want to help your friend out, tell them to look into some sort of smart device.

  • Kane March 7, 2024, 6:06 pm

The ATF or BATFE where that E stands for explosives but Dettelbach did NOT even know what PETN (pentaerythritol tetranitrate) stood for. Typical lefty, in way over their heads and NOT the least ashamed of their incompetance and never planning to dial up their knowlege base.
