Just weeks after a video surfaced showing Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF) agents attempting to seize forced reset triggers (FRTs) via door-to-door visits, another recording has emerged of a similar incident.
The latest video, posted on Twitter, captures the increasingly contentious relationship between the ATF and the 2A community.
In the newly-released video, agents are seen approaching another home with the stated purpose of confiscating FRTs that had been reclassified as “machineguns.”
“I’m with ATF, he’s on a list of some devices that he purchased for firearms that he should not [possess],” one agent is heard saying. The agent was apparently addressing the father of the citizen on the list.
The other agent warns, “If he gets caught with it after this point he’s on notice that he’s not supposed to have it.”
This encounter resembles a previous incident covered by GunsAmerica. In that case, another citizen refused to answer questions about FRTs. During the exchange, the agents ask the man if he is refusing to surrender the triggers.
He firmly tells the agents, “I’m not refusing anything and I won’t be answering any questions.”

The ongoing attempts to seize these FRTs reflect the ATF’s aggressive stance on the enforcement of the National Firearms Act (NFA) of 1934 and the Gun Control Act of 1968.
The possession of an unregistered machine gun is a federal offense. Violators face fines, imprisonment, and forfeiture of the firearms or any property used in the offense.
The growing number of recorded encounters is fueling outrage among 2A advocates. Many argue that this represents an excessive use of government resources and a direct attack on law-abiding citizens.
ATF continues to assert that their actions are lawful. They argue these door-to-door visits are necessary to ensure public safety. Critics, however, argue that the approach disproportionately targets responsible gun owners.
The question remains as to how the ATF obtained the list of purchasers of FRTs. Also, whether a similar approach will be taken toward other items such as bump stocks, pistol braces, and unserialized frames and receivers.
The conflict highlights the tension between the enforcement of gun control measures and the preservation of citizens’ constitutional rights. With more incidents likely to occur and more videos likely to surface, this battle is far from over.

What is a citizens recourse if their trigger, or anything, is conficated by the atf and the regulation they are using is determined to be illegal? Can they get their property back or be reimbursed for the cost of same?

I thought the binary triggers would be a violation of the NFA from the get. But, the AFT drug their feet for years until thousands were sold and are now playing catch-up. I think they should get some reliable data on how these devices endanger the public and how many were used in crimes (probably none) before they expend valuable resources on a recovery type operation which targets and oppresses law abiding citizens. How about our government going after violent criminals and actually prosecuting them? Stay safe.
Where in the article did you see “binary triggers” even mentioned? I saw “FRT” or Forced Reset Triggers talked about, but as of now, they are not the same thing…
These devices were “allowed” (planned) just so the “lists” could be made. “Bump-stocks” , same thing. It’s called, and known to us ( in our new ” injustice system”) as entrapment. Same as Jan.6. So if you are tempted to purchase or participate in something that is real cool for your shootin iron or protest in the street , I’d think twice about it. “All” purchases made in the last 10 years (possibly 25 years), and your bank has that info on a “point of sale” purchase report, that is being compiled expressly for the BATFE , is being used to make such lists.
