Vermont: Suppressor Hunting Made Permanent

Estimated reading time: 2 minutes

On June 6, 2024, Gov. Phil Scott made a big move for hunters by signing H. 878 into law. This new law ditches the two-year limit from S. 281, which temporarily let hunters use suppressors.

Now, Vermont hunters can protect their ears without any worries.

Rep. Pat Brennan (R-Chittenden-9-2), the hero of suppressor rights, pushed this law forward. Brennan has fought for suppressor rights for over a decade.

He, along with Rep. George Till (D-Chittenden-3), made it possible for hunters to use suppressors in 2022 and helped legalize suppressor ownership in Vermont in 2015.

“Working with Representative Brennan over the past twelve years has truly been one of the greatest privileges and honors of my career,” said Knox Williams, Executive Director of the American Suppressor Association (ASA) in a press release obtained by GunsAmerica.

“His tireless work and unwavering dedication is the reason why law-abiding citizens in The Green Mountain State no longer have to choose between jeopardizing their hearing and exercising their Second Amendment rights,” knox continued.

“What he was able to accomplish is nothing short of extraordinary. The suppressor community, as well as the people of Vermont, will forever be in his debt,” he added.
