Taurus USA is changing their warranty protection in a move that’s sure to make Taurus owners happy. Taurus is changing their one-year warranty to a lifetime warranty on a wide range of products.
It is a limited warranty though, meaning that it doesn’t cover products caused by customer abuse, and it doesn’t cover cosmetic damage that doesn’t affect the function of the gun.
“The Taurus Unlimited Lifetime Repair Policy extends to all Taurus USA firearm models in production prior to January 1, 2017,” reads the new policy. “This policy does not cover grips, sights, accessories, cosmetic defects after one year, or damage caused by customer abuse at any time. Taurus USA will not be responsible for these items.”
“Customer satisfaction is the ultimate objective in the Taurus mission to provide safe and reliable firearms for personal defense, competition, or recreational shooting,” said David Blenker, Taurus president and CEO. “Our new Limited Lifetime Warranty backs that mission and ensures confidence in Taurus customers that the company will always stand behind its products and its consumers.”
Products that were previously covered by the one-year policy include the G2c, G2s, the TH series, the TX22, 1911 Commander and Officer models, the Raging Hunter, 856 and 692 series of revolvers and the recently introduced Taurus Spectrum family of concealed-carry pistols.

This will make it even easier for people to buy Taurus products. Taurus has always offered a solid spread of unique handguns with few or no competing designs out there. And they’re all very affordable.
The new warranty sticks with the original purchaser of the firearm, “and promises that Taurus will remedy any defect in material, function, or workmanship for the entire time the original purchaser owns the firearm.”
To activate the warranty the buyer must complete the warranty registration online or over the phone at (800) 327-3776 within 30 days of the purchase date. Otherwise the product reverts to a one-year warranty from the time of purchase.
Great gun, I really love it.
A lifetime warranty is only good if the company doesn’t file bankruptcy during your lifetime. Given the historical track record of firearm manufacturing, I don’t put a lot of merit in a lifetime warranty.
I’m not understanding how to register a warranty within 30 days of 1 Jan 17. Or is that a different warranty?
It’s a 30-day window for new purchases moving forward. As it relates to past purchases:
“Original purchasers of a Taurus firearm covered by a one-year warranty will be pleased to learn their firearm will be covered under this new Limited Lifetime Warranty. No further action is required, except retaining the original purchase receipt for future warranty services.”
