Original production M1 receivers are getting expensive and hard to find. Commercial M1 receivers can sometimes be found, but they’re not exactly growing on trees either. And not every commercial M1 receiver has been made to spec. So what’s a builder to do? Enter the drill rifle.

After looking the rifle over, I was very impressed with what I saw and felt. The rifle was hefty… and I mean really hefty. The bull barrel that this gun comes with adds a lot to it, but the advantage is that you can shoot all day and not see a change in accuracy. The stock felt good to me out of the box, but with the option to change the cheek riser and length of pull (LOP from here on out) I rearranged the stock so that it fit me perfectly.

The Gunwerks slogan is “1000 yards out of the box”, meaning a savvy shooter should be able to take a new rifle out of the case, chamber a round, dial for any distance out to 1000 yards, and ring steel. That’s an extraordinary claim, and one I was supremely interested in putting to the test.

Savage will be producing 1,894 of these special edition 125th anniversary Model 110’s. The gun feature’s a high-gloss walnut stock and engraved carbon steel barreled action.

When it comes to ammunition, there are a huge number of companies in the mix. With that, the quality varies a lot from manufacturer to manufacturer. I decided to head up to Northern New Hampshire and visit David Stark, the owner of Discreet Ballistics.

This summer Kimber will produce a limited run of a special edition of the Classic Kimber in 6.5 Creedmoor with two-toned barrel and receiver.

Savage has been teasing us with an entry into the 224 Valkyrie arena since January, and today it is finally a reality. Fittingly, and maybe surprisingly, the first Savage in caliber is an MSR or Modern Sporting Rifle.

We introduced Century Arms’ new, American-made AK at SHOT Show 2019. It’s the 7.62x39mm-shooting VSKA (pronounced vis-kuh, and, even though it’s made in the USA, it sounds better with an Eastern European accent). I’ve had some time with this gun and I’ve put a few rounds through it, and I’ve carried it around a lot. I like it. Let me show you why.
