Just weeks after a group of nuns and big-money investors forced Smith & Wesson and Ruger to account for their role in promoting “gun violence,” Wells Fargo took its considerable financial resources and threw them behind one of the world’s largest gunmakers, Sturm, Ruger & Co. The bank issued the company a $40 million line of credit last week, stunning members of the Interfaith Center on Corporate Responsibility, who had been working with investors to force gunmakers to address the “risks” inherent in its products’ association with gun-related violence.

“The only thing that I’m sad about is that the law-abiding citizens that purchased those (bump stocks) now have to give them back and in doing so (the state is) not going to give them what they paid for them, which is really stealing,” Dattilio explained.

Top investors in Smith & Wesson’s parent company, American Outdoor Brands (AOB), passed a resolution this week at their annual shareholder’s meeting that forces AOB to publish a report on the company’s role in “gun violence.” Investors want the gun maker to prove that it is adequately addressing the “risks” inherent in its products’ association with gun-related violence and to show evidence the company is exploring ways to reduce this violence by making guns safer.

Pro-Second Amendment groups are rallying in Washington State to defeat a sweeping gun-control ballot measure known as Initiative 1639.
