Democrats in Congress are quietly pushing a mammoth gun control bill that would, among other things, ban “assault weapons” and mandate a license to purchase a firearm.

Frustrated with the Trump administration’s decision to categorize gun stores as “essential,” gun control groups and Democratic U.S. Senators are hoping to keep firearms out of American hands by indefinitely extending wait times for gun purchases.

The number of gun-related background checks conducted in a single month exceeded 3.7 million in March, shattering the previous record of 2.9 million set in December of 2019.

“What Rep. Steube has done is introduce a bill that would hold ATF accountable,” he continued. “No more variable wait times that consistently last over a year. We applaud Rep. Steube for his leadership on the matter, and look forward to working with him to help spread the message and push his legislation.”

A Virginia man has been jailed without bond after he opened fire on three masked suspects who tried to rob his store early Sunday morning.

“The Second Amendment does not require that gun stores be singled out for special treatment and allowed to remain open during the most significant public health crisis of the last 100 years,” said Eric Tirschwell, managing director of Everytown Law.

The gun ban lobby is livid following the Trump administration’s decision to add firearms dealers and manufactures to its list of essential services that should remain open during the COVID-19 crisis.

It went on to add that while 163 cops tested positive, another 1,272 officers around the state were in quarantine and 1,435 were “out for other reasons.”
