I just interviewed Tony from MK Machining at SHOT Show. I asked him about their latest creation, the Vortex Impact 4000 anti-reflective device or ARD.
Unlike previous launches, the team at MK Machining had a heads-up about the upcoming product. With ample time to dive into the details, the team quickly recognized the Vortex Impact as a game-changer for those immersed in the world of long range shooting.

The ARD serves as a great barrier to protect the large glass lens of the Impact 4000. Additionally, the ARD utilizes a honeycomb pattern to help reduce any possible reflection from the lens. For added security against dirt and debris, the Flip Cat versions offer a water-tight seal, although the term “waterproof” isn’t thrown around lightly.
Despite its robust design, the Vortex Impact maintains a watertight seal, dispelling concerns about functionality in adverse conditions. The large cell ARD guarantees minimal interference with laser transmission, preserving accuracy during ranging at various distances.
Tony, heavily involved in the Research and Development phase, attested to the device’s impressive stability. Rigorous testing showed less than a 1% degree of change in accuracy across different ranges, pushing out to nearly 1,000 yards.
Easy assembly is a standout feature, with a snap-fit design eliminating the need for additional hardware. The unit seamlessly slides onto the scope, complete with lips to prevent any unwanted rattling.
For those looking to further protect their Vortex Impact 4000, MK Machining offers the individual cap and ARDs at $60. For added convenience, integrated ARD and cap combos are available for $80, with various color options to suit individual preferences.
