Springfield Armory has announced a new addition to the SAINT Edge product line: the EVAC. This firearm is purpose-built to be compact, portable and lightweight while providing maximum firepower in the form of 5.56 NATO from a pistol configuration.
The SAINT Edge EVAC.
Springfield’s SAINT Edge EVAC has a quick-detach barrel system that allows the pistol to be broken down at the barrel nut because of the Pantheon Dolos takedown adapter. The stabilizing brace can also be folded with the Law Tactical Folding Stock Adapter. The end result is a super-compact, highly accurate AR pistol that can be deployed quickly.
The EVAC has a 7.5″ barrel, linear compensator, and a Gear Head Works Tailhook. The EVAC has an MSRP of $1,949.00 which accurately reflects the build quality and components of this on-the-go AR pistol.
The Law Tactical Folding Stock Adapter allows the gun’s buffer tube to be folded along-side the receiver by separating the bolt carrier and extension from the buffer.
There is so much to say about the Springfield SAINT Edge EVAC, but we’ll save the rest for a full review. This pistol is expected to be shipping sometime this spring, so keep an eye on GunsAmerica for the review in the future! In the meantime though, this video from SHOT 2020 contains a lot of information for you.

Would this function with a Maxim Defense SCW brace instead of the folder?

Why is there no protection for that gas tube? Amazing a company would sell this. It really sticks out there..

The gas tube extends into the upper receiver from the barrel and gas block as part of the AR 15 design, there is no way to change this without altering the AR 15 design. It is a simple matter to protect the exposed gas tube when disassembled.
How and where can I order one?
