Pregnant Wife, Dark Night, Burglary Suspect, Armed Husband…

in News

A Houston homeowner defended his pregnant wife and property from a late-night intruder, ending in gunfire and a quick trip to the hospital—for the suspect.

According to Houston Police Lieutenant Wilkens, who spoke to KHOU 11, the couple was home around 11 p.m. on Saturday when they heard beeping from their alarm system, indicating a door or entry point had been triggered. The husband, 50, grabbed a pistol and headed downstairs to investigate.

A Houston homeowner protects his pregnant wife from a burglary suspect.

Once outside, he noticed the garage door was open and someone was sitting inside his wife’s car in the driveway. It was dark, visibility was low, and the situation escalated quickly.

The suspect exited the vehicle and approached the homeowner, who repeatedly ordered him to stop. The suspect didn’t comply. Unable to see the intruder’s hands and facing sudden, erratic movements, the homeowner fired two shots, striking the man in the arm and leg.

Despite being hit, the suspect managed to jump a large gate. The homeowner followed, opened the gate, and yelled for his wife—who’s due to give birth any day—to call 911. First responders arrived quickly and transported the suspect to the hospital.

The intruder is expected to survive and will be charged with burglary. The homeowner faces no charges at this time, with the case under standard review by the district attorney’s office.

Police emphasized that the homeowner acted in the dark, with a clearly threatening situation and an unknown suspect advancing on him.

Once again, a law-abiding citizen with a firearm was the thin line between a quiet evening and a potential tragedy. This time, it ended with the good guys safe and the bad guy facing justice.
