Otherworldly Shooting! The Alien Creator Evolution from Laugo Arms — SHOT Show 2024

in Levi Sim, SHOT Show 2024

Estimated reading time: 4 minutes

This new Laugo Arms Alien Creator Evolution pistol is a mouthful to say, but it was one of the best-shooting handfuls at the range this year.

I’ve been hoping to shoot one for a long time and finally got the chance and it was remarkable. Let’s look briefly at the basics and then we’ll see the Alien Creator Evolution’s new features.

Full view of the gun, it is pointing right.
It’s got a new grip angle and optics solution. This is the LO Kit.

The most remarkable thing about the Alien is its extremely low bore axis. Compared to other 1911 descendants, the gun is basically engineered upside down.

The slide and recoil action are all above the barrel. That means less mass moving high above your hand and that means less tilt in recoil.

Close up view of the barrel with the slide removed. The gun is pointing away and left.
Its low bore axis is the standout feature.

1911 Grip Angle for Alien

A 1911-like grip angle is new to the Alien Creator Evolution models. Formerly, this Czech-produced gun has a more Glock-like grip. I shot both at the range and I did better with the 1911-style.

Interestingly, the whole grip system was also redesigned. It is now modular with changeable straps, grip scales, and even mag wells. What’s more, these are all changed with a single screw at the back of the mag well, leaving the scales free from screw holes.

All the components of the grip module are laid out on the table.
The grip is highly modular.

Optics Optimized

An out-of-this-world feature is that each gun kit includes all the things. For instance, if you buy the Full Kit, you get a top rail with fiber optic sights, and a rail with Laugo Arms’ own red dot mounted and ready.

You don’t have to buy one or the other, you just get both. Awesomely, the optic is mounted to the top rail, not the slide, so the optic doesn’t move when you fire, and that gets you back on target much better.

The slide and top rail from the LO Kit are laid on the table.
It has three optics options.

The LO Kit is intended for Limited Optics competitions, which require that the optic reciprocates with the slide. To meet that requirement, the LO Kit slide has a bridge over it that is Trijicon RMR-ready.

The LO Kit also comes with a generous thumb rest (gas pedal) spur mounted to the top rail that is fully adjustable and has two texture options. It can be mounted to either side of the slide.

Close up of the trigger.
The 3.5 lb trigger is excellent.
It really does kinda look like a creature from “Alien.”

The Full Kit and the Limited Optics Kit will be available this Spring. The Laugo Arms Alien Creator Evolution in 9mm starts at $5,000.

Don’t think that they will sell many at 5k each, is it solid gold?

If you carefully go over the storyline, it is steel. Gold is not a good material for guns since it is too malleable. Look for something cheaper, since apparently this is out of your budget. Luckily there are firearms at all prices.
