I wasn’t even planning to watch the TV Series Landman, but after my barber raved about it, I gave it a shot—and wow!
Not only is it unapologetically bold, but it also managed to casually sum up the essence of the Second Amendment in just 15 seconds.
The scene I am referring to is Pure Texas. It’s hilarious, it’s true, and it’s a perfect reflection of why gun rights matter.
Guns don’t just make us polite—they create a balance of respect, whether it’s between individuals or between the people and the government.

Here’s the thing: The Second Amendment isn’t about overthrowing the government on a whim; it’s about ensuring accountability and respect.
With 400 million guns in the hands of 100 million Americans, tyranny becomes a very expensive proposition. That’s the power of freedom.
It’s brief to the point and #2A! #landman pic.twitter.com/8xXDw95CmT

Join me as I break down this Landman scene, Rebecca’s out-of-state perspective, and what it all says about gun culture in Texas. 👍
Watch, comment, and share if you believe in the power of the Second Amendment to protect freedom.

Colion, you should have watched the show a little closer. If you had, you would have learned Rebecca was hired out of a law firm in… wait for it… HOUSTON, Texas. Isn’t that your home town?
Love your stuff. Keep up the good work!
Texas, Texas, Texas… sometimes to the point of ad nauseum. Please don’t misunderstand me. I love and appreciate the independent expression of red-blooded Texicans… the kind who stood shoulder to shoulder at the Alamo. I salute them and can only pray that I would have stood in lockstep with them, had I the opportunity back then. Yet today the reality is that Texas is becoming more “purple” by the day. The non-stop influx of Californians, Illinoisans, Michiganders, and even Minnesotans continues to dilute the independent spirit of the Free State of Texas. In reality, there are many more states with a deeper red heritage and current red populous than Texas.
I fled my home state of Georgia as a young lad, and have never looked back. I was right in doing so as the insatiable lust for “more people” and “more money” has irrevocably stained that once proud state with an evil blue stain. I settled in Mississippi, knowing full well how the majority of states consider we Mississippians the butt of many jokes.
No other state however, has even come close to producing the artists, writers, poets, and singer/songwriters of this sparsely populated southern state. Statistically speaking, few other states can even approach the number of decorated soldiers/combat units that hail from Mississippi. Our state is still covered with airfields that trained the WWIII airmen in their mission to save the entire world from fascism. Even as far back as the war of 1812, our volunteer militia figured prominently in routing the Limeys at the Battle of New Orleans.
While I do not seek to tarnish the reputation of Texas or any other freedom-loving/defending state. They do not now, nor have EVER stood alone in defending the God-given rights of free people. Isn’t it time to recognize as much?
Frank, you forgot to mention that Mississippi consistently places last in the nation for education. Just had to make the reminder. BTW, my wife is from McComb, MS and she couldn’t get away from there fast enough. But, I will say there is a certain charm about the place.
Yeah, we Mississippians get that a lot. However, if you subtract the eight Delta counties, all of which are Democratically controlled, Mississippi comes out about in the middle for most significant metrics. I hate it for your wife. However, I have lived all over the world, and I wouldn’t live anyplace else. The people are friendly, the cost of living is low, the churches are full, and there are no state gun laws.
TRIPLE DITTO CUBED! 👏🏽 👍🏼☺️
Billy Bob Thornton is an unapologetic stringent supporter of the Second Amendment as written in its entirety!
ANY restrictions on such is totally unconstitutional and should’ve been called out as such long ago if we didn’t have such a spineless bottom-feeding Supreme Court! 😡
The founders of this country laid out plainly that they did not want lawyers in our legislative process or our courts, because they would always form laws and trim decisions to suit and maintain the lawyers death grip on our legal system! 😡
Had to share, love it, thanks.
oh and BTW, Billy Bob Thornton from Arkansas does the best job
of recreating that sarcastic west Texas wit.
In 1942, author Robert Heinlein wrote under a pseudonym the story “Beyond This Horizon”
Depicting a future society in which all citizens were armed and public dueling was commonplace.
So my brothers and sisters in Texas didnt invent constitutional carry.
I read everything by Robert Heinlein and he had some radical off-the-wall views about society and how it interacts and this is just one of them that caught my eye with great appreciation! 👏🏽 👍🏼☺️
P.S. When I was younger anything by Robert Heinlein was considered as trash by the Catholic Church but I read it anyway as I was first introduced to it by a science-fiction nut when I was in the seminary! 👏🏽 👍🏼☺️
I thought the same thing when I saw this. Perfect statement of life I the free states.
As Landman is a definite hit and watching Billy Bob in this role is as entertaining as it gets
Yes, all the best arguments for the 2nd Ammendment and gun laws come from fictional TV shows. Watching fictional TV shows is how I get all the information I need to form my baseless opinions and spout them as some universal truth.
Thanks Karen.
