Kimber launched its latest offering, the KDS9c at NRA 2023. This firearm is a result of over four decades of experience in the industry and is designed to be a “personal protection masterpiece.”
The KDS9c is built from the ground up, with its barrel fully fluted, crowned, and ramped. Kimber’s proprietary bore sizing process delivers match-grade accuracy with every shot, making it a solid choice for those seeking reliable accuracy in a personal protection firearm.
The engineers at Kimber chose 7075 aluminum and sculpted a frame that delivers superior ergonomics. The etching that wraps around the front strap and grips ensures a comfortable grip, even during extended periods of use.

Looks pretty good. Can you get it with low sights? Don’t like tall ones for carry.
With a contoured high capacity grip, 15rd of 9mm (vice 17 for 2011s), and no grip safety, this seems to be far more like another modern take on the Hi-Power, this time with a straight pull trigger, than a 1911 variant.
My question is which are the “wrong handed” people? Remember, us lefties are the only ones in our right minds, so….
What’s not to like? It’s sort of like a poor man’s version of the Wilson Combat EDC X9.
If Kimber can deliver on the quality I think they may have a hit on their hands. Look at the features…all aluminum frame (no separate polymer grip), fluted, crowned bull barrel, fiber optic sights, G-10 grips, ambi safety, approximately 4# trigger, optic ready, 15+1 capacity double stack, plus it looks great.
This could be to WC EDC X9 what the Springfield Prodigy was to Staccato. Since it specifically has the “c” for compact in it’s name, I think it’s entirely possible that a full size variant could also be made available later.
I saw no mention of an ambi safety, just a reversible mag release. I wish they came standard with ambi safeties like Staccato.
Same-old, same-old. I don’t see a thing to make that any more of a “Masterpiece” than any other high-dollar pistol. Nothing innovative at all, sorry.
Am I seeing that right ??? Or am I hallucinating again ???
No Grip Safety !!! Now tell me it’s a 70 series design … and just TAKE MY MONEY NOW !!!
Did you watch the video?
70s ” LIKE ” trigger… OK … now THAT set the HOOK even DEEPER !!! ( Missed that 1st time around… )
